How old are you bro? Singles have always carried albums to platinum since the industry started. You think everyone was buying Speakerboxxx/The Love Below for 39 songs? Casuals had to buy the whole CD just for Hey Ya and The Way You Move. Only hardcore music fans listen to full albums. Streaming didn't change that
“Had to buy the whole cd”
Nah we just illegally downloaded the single and moved on.

Casual fans had no clue what illegally downloading music was until 2006. In 2003 people were still buying the whole album for 1-2 songs. I bought juvenile cd in 2003 just for slow motion. Same with speakerboxx love below for hey ya and the way you move.
Yeah man Recovery by Eminem just went Diamond because it’s a classic.
I wonder how much of those Drake units are features 🤔
Yeah it take more than sales to be considered a classic lol if that’s the case vanilla ice and mc hammer are in the goat conversation.
Nevermind I forgot I did have loads of illegal music in 2002/2003 someone I knew put every rap album on my laptop. I had like 3,000 songs in my iTunes library. I had grodt 2 months before it dropped
If sales mattered regarding classic status The Massacre would be considered a classic lol it take more than that.

A lot of people think the massacre classic
On the wider discussion if something is steady selling well for 10 years + it probably is classic. Signs of ageing well with consumers

Hammer please don’t hurt em is a classic album tho. Multiple smash hits and the first diamond rap album. It changed the rap game and everyone started going commercial. Bad boy shinney suits era was based off hammer success with please don’t hurt em. The dancing and shiny clothes.
The massacre would’ve been a classic if he had this is how we do and hate it or love it on there

My man I was like 9 years old downloading songs on limewire and burning CDs. It didn’t take a computer genius. Literally everyone was pirating back in the day. Now most people stream.

The majority doe NOT consider The Massacre a classic. You’d get slandered for saying that lol. Make a thread and watch how fast you get flamed.

Nobody thinks the massacre is a classic. It was seen as a disappointment when it dropped and it still is.
If a rap album go diamond it’s a classic 100%
I don’t care if the music bad, you can get 10M sales on a album it’s a classic. If scorpion eventually go diamond, it’s a classic.

“Nobody”
I don’t personally don’t think it is necessarily but I’ve seen it put up there by a lot of people 🤷

a album dosent have to be good to be a classic though 808s is a classic and it isnt a 10/10. i dont like abbey road by the beatles but if people are listening to it 60 years later its classic whether you like or not

A album doesn’t have to be good to be a classic is one of the craziest things I’ve heard on KTT

i think it depends on era back then it was way easier than now 🤷♂️

when i was a young man and received my copy of Recovery i only used it for the singles and occasionally the intro

an album can be great and not be a classic. an album can be whatever musically and be a classic because it represented a time period really well if that makes sense

If it happens now, it’s gotta be labeled a classic. The last rap album that went diamond was released in 2002. Streaming changed the game. Before that, I didn’t we could get a diamond rap album from a 2010’s rapper. We will get a few by 2030. Recovery, views, scorpion and tc will go diamond. Bunny album will go diamond too.
