Acclaim is just as subjective as a review I don't think that's as important as you might think especially since it's really political behind the scenes (Grammys and MTV awards favoring artists that perform)

Longevity and influence are great indicators for me too honestly. All of Cudi's albums have been in my rotation since they each released and they've influenced my personal life and health so much I don't think I'd be the same man without them. I don't know how objectively you can measure that but I won't deny it but those 2 could apply to any album and artist someone gets attached to and it's still an opinion

acclaim is subjective, but it's a little different when it's literally being universally heralded by every critic any way you look/read, regardless i don't weigh acclaim heavily because oftentimes they're critiquing the actual artist rather than the music nowadays

and influence is measurable when you see an album come out with a certain sound, and people create their own art off of it, C3 is a great example, people gave that album its flowers on its anniversary, and wayne's image + his experimentation with autotune alongside kanye is very apparent on today's rap game

Nah nobody is going to be listening to Honestly Nevermind a few months from now so it will never go Diamond.

Most albums from past eras don’t sell like GKMC. We may see beloved album like Take Care, GKMC, Astroworld, and 2014 FHD go Diamond later this decade because of streaming.

most music will go diamond eventually

Not if steaming wasn’t a thing. The top artist were barley going 2x platinum after 5 years.

90s and early 2000s it was way easier then streaming era, This why its hard to compare eras.

I agree but streaming keeps albums on the charts way longer though. Albums sold a lot out the gate back then slowed down, but now a album can sell 25k a week a year later after the album dropped. My turn 2 years old and still doing 21k a week.

Take Care, NWTS, Views, Scorpion are all going Diamond in the next 4/5 years.

A album doesn’t have to be good to be a classic is one of the craziest things I’ve heard on KTT

I mean anybody can say an album is good or isn’t good

If I don’t think thriller is good does that mean its not a classic?
