How are you even comparing both albums? People were moving on from Kendrick's album THE WEEK IT DROPPED. That's why his projection dipped by over 50k.

Honestly, Nevermind was bleeding streams like crazy during its first week as well and even it didn't drop that hard against its initial projections like Kendrick's album did. That tells you how turned off people were by Kendrick's album after day 1.

Her Loss is filled with bangers and album tracks that ride. People will be playing that album for years just off that alone.

Kendrick's album will be forgotten the more time passes because he has albums in his discography that are much better. That's it.

What's hilarious is you people refusing to accept that he dropped a dud that no one cares about.

Well it seems like to you, he dropped a bad album, but to many people online I'm seeing and in real life he dropped a great album.

You keep shoving this idea down that nobody likes the album, when that's not completely true at all. Hell, I'm seeing people on Lipstick Alley still talking great things about the album in chats.

Just because it "flopped" by your own standards doesn't mean nobody like album.

Kendrick is a major act, meaning I can use the commercial response to his releases to tell the way the general public feels about the album.

When I say people didn't like the album, I clearly don't mean EVERYBODY (so I don't know why you keep referring to people on Twitter/forums who like the album). Of course there'll be people who like the album.

I speak in terms of the majority and more specifically, the general public when I make my points and the reception from the general public is that they didn't care for the album, especially with the amount of hype/anticipation it had before it dropped.

The fact that older Kendrick albums like GKMC/DAMN are being consumed more than an album he dropped less than a year ago tells you all you need to know.

Not to add with the fact that it didn't have the same impact culturally that Kendrick's albums tend to have. People usually debate/discuss Kendrick's music long after it drops because there's so much to get through. People aren't doing it with MM because they simply don't care for it.

I'll say this. None of that means Kendrick is done or washed (I recently said in a thread that he'd need to drop projects I consider mid multiple times for me to consider him washed) but it means he dropped a dud this time around. That's all. I still think he's the talented/gifted musician he's always been. It just means his next album will have to be well-received by the masses or else he'll be in trouble. That's all.

Discussing numbers is easy because the figures are objective. Talking about music in-depth requires a bit more brain power, and often gets discarded with an "in your opinion" retort. They miss that that being able to articulate your opinions and discuss them in interesting ways is the point. That's my theory ❤🧡💛
