Yes because most people are boomers and stuck in the past lmao. Same people would tell you Eminem is the biggest rapper still

I mean… he is bigger then lil baby if we being honest but that’s another discussion

That album has sold 1.5m in 9 months though. Renassicance 1.6m in a year

“Lil Baby is bigger than Beyonce” is the wildest hill I’ve ever seen someone die on

Bro come on lmao, it's basic logic. you can literally search videos of these concerts and see this s*** for yourself

Again you’re discrediting who Lil Baby is and the type of crowd he attracts based off of the music he makes and his race.

You don’t know for a fact what the overall audience looks like based on a couple of pictures, it’s not basic logic. I’m telling you what I have seen at similar events that have no age restrictions. People treat it as an event where they can enjoy the music they like with their kids, that’s it. Doesn’t matter if you’re white, black, purple or yellow.

Went to a Jamaican riddim concert where literal daggering happens, furthest thing from kid friendly. And guess what I saw? A lot of families setup under tents enjoying music with their kids running around

I’ve been to Dreamville Fest the past two years where a bunch of non-family friendly artists were on the lineup and there were so many families there with their toddlers and little children

There's definitely kids at these shows tho, that's completely not what im saying lol

If you're so sure I'm wrong though, why do you think Lil Baby can't even sell out arenas when his music is so incredibly popular?

  • Jul 31, 2023

You know what f*** all that since we talking streaming name me a lil baby or yb solo track that has a billion streams on Spotify

Because, like we’ve been saying the whole time, streaming is a flawed metric and isn’t a super accurate measure of who’s the biggest because it is a passive action

Now you’re going an entirely different direction and deterring from the conversation cause you have no solid response to what I said.

4 shows were cancelled out of 30. Shut the f*** up

He only canceled 4 shows that weren’t selling well. The rest of the tour is still being bought and attended by people. What’s your point?

The original discussion was that ticket sales are the most accurate measure of who the biggest artists are, since streaming and pure sales numbers can be deceiving.

@mangotflu is arguing that live shows are biased towards white, family friendly artists and that streaming is the most accurate measure of the most popular artists

Choosing what to listen to and listening to it isn't a passive action at all though? Makes no sense at all. If it was so easy to game this stuff you'd see the artists with the most amount of freaks at the top of the game but they aren't.

Tours are 100% a flawed metric also because rappers aren't good performers because rap is trash live

Lil Baby and Nba Youngboy as musicians are clearly more popular than Beyonce in recent years

Beyonce is a much, much, much bigger celebrity and always will be. Celebrities sell tours, musicians don't

I think that's the distinction we need to make & what everyone struggles with

& again if streams are so easy to manipulate, why does Nicki Minaj/BTS always flop. Nicki's last album (Queen) only sold 100k streaming units even with her insane fanbase, you think they just had no idea how to "manipulate" streaming?

crazy how nicki a flop but queen went platinum faster than a lot of this site's favorites artists.

An easy example of this stuff is Harry Styles v Nicki Minaj honestly.

I know it may be a weird comparision but Nicki Minaj was on top of the game for so long but lets be real, Nicki could put out an unlimited amount of slaps but she's never even been 25% as big of a touring artist as Harry Styles. Harry Styles is probably a bigger tourist artist than Drake even lmao

so, is Harry a bigger artist than Drake now?

    1. It’s passive in the sense that, after getting past the paywall, all anyone has to do is choose a song and press play. That’s it. The effort stops there. It’s affordable, and there’s no financial decisions to be made like in the past when all albums were sold separately. Most people listen through shuffling their playlists, which makes the whole ordeal even more passive because now you’re not even choosing the songs, at least in the order you’re hearing them.

    2. It’s the job of an artist to be good at performing if they plan on doing live shows, so if fans are not buying tickets because the artist isn’t a good performer, that’s 100% on the artist. Rap isn’t trash live, but I agree there are a lot of modern rappers who are not good at it.

Lmao by what metric are Lil Baby and NBA Youngboy more popular musicians than Beyonce?

This is exactly why we’re saying streaming is a flawed system.

Streaming numbers would lead you to believe that artists like Lil Baby and NBA Youngboy are bigger artists than someone like Beyonce, and that’s so utterly ridiculous

my turn is 4x platinum and is bigger then her last solo album and her collab album with jayz combined

She hasn’t been on a headlining tour in eight years.

Harry has been on the same headlining tour for the past three.

    Five years ago.

I’m sure if Nicki put out a great album and announced a global arena tour, it would be super successful
