Lil Baby and Nba Youngboy as musicians are clearly more popular than Beyonce in recent years
Beyonce is a much, much, much bigger celebrity and always will be. Celebrities sell tours, musicians don't
I think that's the distinction we need to make & what everyone struggles with
& again if streams are so easy to manipulate, why does Nicki Minaj/BTS always flop. Nicki's last album (Queen) only sold 100k streaming units even with her insane fanbase, you think they just had no idea how to "manipulate" streaming?
Lmao by what metric are Lil Baby and NBA Youngboy more popular musicians than Beyonce?
This is exactly why we’re saying streaming is a flawed system.
Streaming numbers would lead you to believe that artists like Lil Baby and NBA Youngboy are bigger artists than someone like Beyonce, and that’s so utterly ridiculous
Exactly, no one is going to a Weeknd concert solely to hear Blinding Lights
If it was that easy to sell out stadiums off one hit then Roddy ricch should be out here selling out arenas
Exactly, no one is going to a Weeknd concert solely to hear Blinding Lights
Not really what I said though, he has about 10-20 songs like that, songs that are far more accessible than the other 80%+ of his discog
He's always done this on purpose, 2-3 family friendly hits per album and the rest is stuff that you can't play around grandma

Name the 10-20 family friendly songs on the setlist buddy
Yeah for sure i'm not saying none go at all. I'm just saying its faaar more prevalent for artists like Ed Sheeran/Taylor.
There's a reason Taylor's now a 2-3x bigger concert artist than Beyonce. Beyonce.
See you said aren’t things biased to white artists and then you based your opinion on a circumstantial bias.
Concerts are events. People take their families and friends to these events, from all types of ages. Just went to a concert a couple weeks ago with my teen cousins and older sisters, like this isn’t just solely happening for white artist of a massive scale. That’s such a narrow minded perspective. I bet when I see Beyoncé next month, it’ll be much of the same. I know people way younger than me that listen to Beyoncé more than me and I bet there’s a lot of kids just like them too
That’s because beyonce hadn’t released music until 2022 Cmon now lmao, like context matters here bro. Lil baby and yb release music every 2 months at bare minimum while beyonce goes on long breaks so ofc the numbers skew more to them
What context tho? My Turn has sold over double the units Renaissance has in the US. That's why I'm saying as a musician Lil Baby is more popular than Beyonce
So popstars then, people who mostly make music for families/children. Not many people are going to a Weeknd concert to hear HoB, they're going to hear Blinding Lights and Starboy, obvs
It's literally impossible to stream millions of songs a day, you can stream at most 700~ 2 min songs a day and I'm fairly sure Spotify/AM both filter out streams from people that just leave it autoplaying all day anyway.
There is very obvious manipulation with touring too, a LOT of people go to see artists like BTS/Harry Styles/Taylor Swift because they're obsessed with the actual human behind the music. They're desperate to see them in real life, Harry Styles could announce a world tour where he's literally just talking on the stage about life and he'd sell 100s of thousands of tickets in seconds
Also if streams can be manipulated, surely you'd think artists like Beyonce/Nicki Minaj would be doing insane streaming numbers right? They have way more loyal fans than Drake. Yet they aren't even coming close to 1/3rds Drake numbers, why do you think that is?
Fans paying hundreds to watch their favorite artists is not "manipulation". Just accept these artists are popular. 😌
Also,

On his entire tour setlist, the only family friendly songs are Can’t Feel My Face (which is about cocaine), Out of Time, I Feel It Coming, Die for You, Save Your Tears, and Blinding Lights.
That’s 6/29 songs.
50,000 people are not going to a two hour stadium show to hear 6/29 songs.

The fact their music is consumed much more than Beyonce's maybe..? I'm not sure how you can argue against that at all.
this is turning into some boomer discussion at this point

Also,
!https://youtu.be/4kmItvIAceQ!https://youtu.be/rlAXQ4rYpFABro literally is singing “do you like the way I flick my tongue or nah / you can ride my face until you’re dripping cum” to 50,000 people and this guy is saying that’s only possible because of family friendly music
What context tho? My Turn has sold over double the units Renaissance has in the US. That's why I'm saying as a musician Lil Baby is more popular than Beyonce
Dude even you know that’s not true lmao, like the GP knows more beyonce songs then lil baby songs
just because MY TURN is bigger then RENAISSANCE does not mean lil baby is bigger then beyonce as a musician
The fact their music is consumed much more than Beyonce's maybe..? I'm not sure how you can argue against that at all.

They both drop music every other week, Beyonce has released two studio albums in the past 7 years
So you're trying to tell me that you'll see just as many families at a Lil Baby concert as you'll see at an Ed/Taylor concert?
You’re positing this question and placing your argument in a lens where your biased opinion will be valid. You’re asking disingenuous questions that can’t have any factual responses. I can’t speak to the demographics of either show as I have no access to that information nor is that important information.
I’m telling you that concerts and events that are presented as all age events, no matter the genre, will have a wide ranging audience that includes families. Even a Lil Baby concert as he also has a lot of kids that are his fan

My Turn has sold over 4m units in the US, Renaissance around 1.7m. It's nothing to do with how much they drop

My Turn has been out for double the time that Renaissance has been out, you’re acting like both albums released on the same day.
Why aren’t you comparing Renaissance with the album Lil Baby released in 2022?

Bro come on lmao, it's basic logic. you can literally search videos of these concerts and see this s*** for yourself
My Turn has been out for double the time that Renaissance has been out, you’re acting like both albums released on the same day.
Why aren’t you comparing Renaissance with the album Lil Baby released in 2022?
yeah and this year Renassicance has sold 553k units, My Turn 583k, even though Lil Baby just dropped another album last year..
thats my point, his music is clearly being consumed more than Beyonce's right now
My Turn has sold over 4m units in the US, Renaissance around 1.7m. It's nothing to do with how much they drop
One of them came out in early 2020, the other turned 1 this week

You’re proving our point that streaming is a flawed metric, because nobody on planet earth would argue that Lil Baby is a bigger musician than Beyonce

He’s deliberately not comparing Renaissance to Lil Baby’s 2022 album

Yes because most people are boomers and stuck in the past lmao. Same people would tell you Eminem is the biggest rapper still

How is it “stuck in the past” when Beyoncé just released a super successful album and is currently embarking on a global stadium tour?
Lil Baby is struggling to fill up arenas
He’s deliberately not comparing Renaissance to Lil Baby’s 2022 album
That album has sold 1.5m in 9 months though. Renassicance 1.6m in a year

That album was definitely not super successful, at least not in the US. For comparision sake SZA's SOS is super successful
