KTT2 niggas really got on here to say moving 10M units in the US doesn't mean anything all to degend a f***ing Kanye West album
So, if a song going Diamond doesn't mean it's a hit, then what does it mean?
It takes 1.5 BILLION US streams to have a song move 10M units but because a KTT2 user says so, that doesn't mean anything and can be done by anybody because it's super easy to do lmao.
Never said it wasn’t a hit, I said it wasn’t a smash.
You wanna talk numbers, let’s talk numbers.
Daily Spotify Streams as of Yesterday:
Flashing Lights - 1.02 million
Stronger - 493K
Can’t Tell Me Nothing - 408K
Good Life - 223K
vs.
One Dance - 1.1 million
Hotline Bling - 327K
Too Good - 185K
Controlla - 130K
Keep in mind, those first four songs came out 17 years ago
How does that factor into it being a hit?
There are lots of albums that sold a ton of units years ago that no one streams or even talks about today. There are tons of songs that were hits years ago than no one plays today, that doesn't automatically cancel them out from being hits, not to mention, saying no one plays Too Good today is a false statement in and of itself lmao.
I’m not arguing that it’s not a hit. Im agreeing with the leo avi dude that said certs and s*** like that aren’t the end all be all to how big a song is.
There’s s*** that never charted that’s more iconic than s*** that’s diamond.

Thank you!!!
Charts and certifications are not the final say of how big and iconic a song is.
Faneto and Dreams & Nightmares are both infinitely bigger than Too Good
At a certain point you guys gotta realize you're never gonna agree lol
Let shaleirose keep cooking man
Also I’m very passionate about music. I don’t like arguing about serious real life topics but I’ll go back and forth about music all day
Never said it wasn’t a hit, I said it wasn’t a smash.

Nobody cares, nigga. A hit is a hit. You keep arguing semantics. First, it was mention 4 hits, then it was no, they're not classics and they're not iconic, then it became no, they're not international hits. All your arguments are lazy and stupid.
Imagine being so silly to suggest moving 10M units in the US doesn't mean anything and doesn't mean a song is a hit. Do you know how hard that is to do? Who cares if it's a "smash" hit and what determines what is and isn't a smash hit anyways?

Now the argument has changed to what's iconic
He insisted Views didn't have 4 hits. I gave him 4 hits and then he switched to "but but but they're not iconic"
Never said it wasn’t a hit, I said it wasn’t a smash.

Not fair to Drake
He got a bunch of other smashes
Looney man only has a limited number to stream
Never said it wasn’t a hit, I said it wasn’t a smash.

Kanye also hasn't released a new album in a minute. Alot of factors going on. Drake has 4 new projects since Donda if we include CLB. People are probably streaming For All The Dogs now

There’s a difference between a hit and a smash hit.
Pick Up the Phone is a hit, Sicko Mode is a smash hit.
ATM is a hit, No Role Modelz is a smash hit.
Too Good is a hit, One Dance is a smash hit.

So why is One Dance still clearing a million a day but the song I’m saying isn’t a smash hit, is not?
How does that factor into it being a hit?

i love the wild statements some people make, like we aint living in 2023 and we cant check the daily, weekly, monthly, yearly streaming data for any given song to see real-time demand
"no one listens to too good in 2023"
a quick look at spotify shows that almost 200,000 people listen to Too Good daily and thats just spotify, factor in Apple Music and every other streaming platform and youtube, Too Good is being streamed around ~400,000-450,000 times every day easily
its funny because In My Feelings gets almost the same daily plays on spotify as Too Good

But that doesn't mean you should s*** on songs that were ACTUALLY hits and praise songs that you think would have been hits if they dropped now or were received better. That doesn't make sense to me.
We can argue millions of songs that might have been smash hits if they dropped now because of how huge they felt when they dropped or how iconic we perceive them to be but the fact remains that we'd just be playing the woulda, coulda, shoulda game and that'd get us nowhere.
Kanye also hasn't released a new album in a minute. Alot of factors going on. Drake has 4 new projects since Donda if we include CLB. People are probably streaming For All The Dogs now
Nah I'm actually looking at the daily streaming numbers for ages (because it's interesting) and they are the same since months
The numbers were the same too before FATD dropped. Controlla was actually below 100k 3-4 months ago
