And he's still got a rabid fanbase at the ready to support him lmao. If Kanye announced an arena tour right now, that s*** will sell out. How many rappers can say that?

Corporations or certain figures having issues with Kanye doesn't mean the people who still support him will stop doing so. That's my entire point.

People never stopped streaming Kanye's music through his most controversial moments so why would you think those same people wouldn't support a brand new album from him that was available for them to stream?

Yeah, cus his old music holds up. Rabid fanbase or not, there is no way you can tell me that he still has the same level of support he used to have. 150k is a W

Has nothing to do with stan wars. I'm just stating facts. Y'all are making up excuses so the numbers this album did seem more significant than they are. Kanye is meant to do at least this much. Why? I don't know, I guess because the guy has been a top 5 most popular figure in rap music for the last 20 years, despite all the controversial hot water he's found himself in? That's just common sense lol.

Also, this is his first project since Donda, an album that debuted over 300k units without a full first week. Why anyone would think this project wouldn't do at least 100k units is beyond me.

You are ignoring that this wasn’t a typical Kanye controversy anymore. It’s way bigger than that. My guess was always that the album would do something between 120-175k. Reaching 200k would’ve been more incredible to me than Donda doing 400 because the reality of the situation is way different right now. 150k is not amazing but it isn’t really that bad either.

  • Will Vultures 2 sell more or less than Vultures 1?

So basically every big rapper could say some disgusting s*** and they'll be good?

A few established musicians can get away with being controversial because they're too established to fail. Taylor Swift can come out as a Nazi right now and she'll still do numbers because her fans will support her regardless. Social media has been mindlessly hating on Drake like crazy since 2016 and that's done nothing to slow down his success.

Certain people are just too established to be "removed." And even those who aren't as established can't be successfully cancelled.

Sabrina Claudio and Daniel Caesar got "cancelled" online years ago. Since then, Sabrina Claudio has gone on two sold out tours, written songs for Beyoncè with tons of other songs she's written for other artists yet to drop and is more successful than she's ever been. Daniel Caesar just went on a sold out ARENA tour. Something even more popular R&B niggas can't do. Miss me with that "cancelled" s***, man.

So you agree with my point about how a new Kanye album is meant to do at least 100k first week regardless? Got it.

Kanye is more established than Kendrick, has a more rabid fanbase and has been popular for much longer.

What the f*** are you talking about? Even now, he's outstreaming Kendrick daily and that was before this album dropped. He's charting more albums weekly than Kendrick. Just stop it, man.

    Why are you like this?????

    Streaming era

    tlop did 649k (2016)
    ye did 208k (2018)

Weird it's almost like Kanye is 20 years into his career while not making a mainstream album since 2010

lmao at Donda not being a mainstream album, dude had half the industry on it and one of the biggest rollouts out of any artist in the last 5+ years

even ariana/bieber's last albums rollouts weren't as big as Donda's

In case you haven't noticed, numbers for rap music have been on a steady decline since the streaming era boom. That isn't exclusive to Kanye and isn't because he's now somehow canceled and isn't getting as much support as before.

Jack Harlow won't do massive numbers with his album. The best he'll do is 100k+ first week like he did with his last album that also had a #1 single. Overall, Beyoncè and Kanye are way bigger artists than he is, even if they don't get #1 hits anymore.

Yea i'm really confused with this victim mentality these ye fans have, this man has arguably promoted his last few album more than all popstars except Taylor Swift

Outside album debut weeks, he remains a bigger artist than every rapper outside of Drake lmao. These niggas must be stupid or something.

Kanye's catalog is still putting up insane numbers till this day. They're here acting like dude has ever been some scrub when it comes to mainstream success.

they’re gonna do these gymnastics because Aubrey “Michael Jackson” Graham dropped a surprise album and pushed 200k, while Kanye essentially got deplatformed, put out a single most people didn’t even like + 2 struggle ass listening parties and pushed 150k while missing a day of tracking and being pulled off of streaming

    all in all, it’s OVER

    Questions

    1. Did kanye's antisemitism hurt his numbers?

    2. If he was controversial free would he have done more numbers?

    3. If the music was bad would he still receive the same amount of numbers?

    4. Did the DSP's removing his album multiple times hurt his numbers?

    5. Did you like the album?
