    My Turn

    Lie.

All of the Lights may not have went quadruple platinum and racked up 900 billion streams in three weeks, but it’s definitely more impactful than any Drake song post-Scorpion

Drake is a brand in the same way Taylor Swift is a brand. That’s not a diss, he literally created that over the course of his career. If you don’t think he tried to turn his name into a household name and a brand by itself you are sorely mistaken

It's not a diss but it's strange that every post you make you're viewing these people as "brands" and "platforms" keeping them at arms length away in your mind but you act like it's normal. Above all Drake is just another guy like you and me only he kept a consistent quality that people have grown to trust

Sure he's got a few logos and known iconography but that's no different than any other artist. To put things in perspective I could come in here whenever someone like Justin Bieber or The Weeknd accomplishes something and say "yeah but he's a brand it was because he's a platform" but if I did that I'd probably look like a hater and even if I say it's congratulating him

It’s not a diss at all, it’s acknowledgment. Once you reach a certain level of success like those guys, virtually any song you put out will reach a minimum achievement. You have to hold these megastars to different standards

Kanye's creative peak ended after TLOP. It's been diminishing but sometimes interesting returns since then.

His commercial peak ended after Cruel Summer. I remember that era. He's done numbers more based on the platform he built than commercial appeal since then. That doesn't mean he can't occasionally still have a hit, but it doesn't come easy anymore.

it’s funny when they try to start talking down on his discog anyways like anything Drake has done post-2015 max comes close to anything Kanye has put out since MBDTF

im sure Yeezus was too scary though

  • Mar 11, 2024

#nohits and #noone is listening btw

    Well yea thank you rihanna.

Yeah All of the lights was only impactful because of her platform! That's not a diss I'm just acknowledging the truth

You can't separate the consistency a brand brings from the support they continue to garner from their consumers. We live in a time when people are becoming increasingly mindful of what they spend their money/time on so best believe that if someone believes you're not delivering the satisfaction they feel their money/time is worth, they'll go somewhere else and to someone else who gives them that.

People will keep supporting Apple products because they make premium s***. That would eventually change if they suddenly started making s*** that their customers felt were inferior and weren't meeting their needs.

Drake built his platform BECAUSE he kept dropping music people deemed worthy of their time and support and he still gets that support because those people still feel the same way about his music till today.

Thanks to streaming, people have access to millions of songs by hundreds of thousands of artists. They don't have to listen to Drake, especially if his music is as wack as people claim it is now. They're choosing to listen to him and that's why he's still putting up the biggest numbers year after year.

When is the last time Kanye created a moment for the world outside of his stans and legion of d***suckers

'Anita Max Wynn' has more cultural impact than Vultures and it was an off hand comment on a sponsored gambling stream

Drake just has fun and he's iconic. Ye has to scare Alex Jones on his own show to have a "moment" and not the good kind

You think Apple makes premium s***? I own an iPhone and even I know that’s cap

People still buy iPhones because of the brand, not because they’re the premium product on the market.

The same can be said about Drake’s music post-2020

You're an idiot if you don't think iPhones are premium mobile devices. A big idiot lmao. And it makes me wonder what you'd consider "premium" if the iPhone isn't premium to you.
