    i think for morale

    wait are you serious? lol

She did a million first week three times in a row pre streaming

I should have explained better because in my mind I saw the title and knew that number wasn’t pure sales. I am aware she can hit a million without breaking a sweat not trying to take that away

So if you’re already doing exceptional why resort to doing tactics?

I think that’s the point. Also selling your fans half the album on preorders for months then releasing the full album after to make them buy it again is the main issue.

Why would any music fan want that to become a precedent?

    Because streaming exist

You don’t have to buy anything

  • holy moly t swizzle

  • Projected 850-900 US STreams

So she taking the first week US streaming record from scorpion/clb tie

Your point doesn’t make any sense because her “variants” never rose to become a concern for anyone else, because no matter how many variants other artists sold, they never beat the numbers she set with her very first album, released 2020, without any variants?

It’s like decrying that Taylor is blasting NOS in a drag race, AFTER she had already cross the finish line and won dozens seconds ahead of everyone else.

Since the NOS never mattered in the race, why be are you trying to make it an issue?

As your second point of why do a “surprise pt2 drop that is not in the preorders”:

the original 16 songs already took 2 vinyl discs to fit, so if she were to add another 15 songs, it’d take 4 discs, and that’d be too costly and time consuming to manufacture. She’d have to change $80 bucks instead of $40 per album.

It’s not like the pt2 of the album was selling in any numbers in any way. it is simply her rather putting the songs that didn’t make the cut on streaming than on a shelf. This is actually a precedent you should be glad about lol.

  • People forget mj wasn't that popular in the USA for his last couple albums

His worldwide numbers were always crazy but his usa numbers declined alot towards the end of his career

Not saying Taylor would sell more but he definitely would have a challenge

Now mj at his peak would clear Taylor easy

    Yep.

And I'm careful wording it because the OP keeps getting on my case for exposing it.

But the thread originally was worded entirely differently before it shifted into a sales megathread.

It cherrypicked a Twitter user who said that Kendrick will sell close to a milli fw and sarcastically asked people if Kendrick fans were putting too much pressure on him. Then, the question asked how much they thought MMTBS would sell fw.

Then, when the projections came in, it turned into a roast battle of Kendrick's sales then, when people got the jokes out of the way, it got pinned as a sales megathread.

I was there from the beginning so I know.

Also, for Taylor supposedly using tactics to boost her sales, I say don't hate the player, hate the game.

Like are we really gonna act like rappers haven't been bloating their albums up like balloons to boost their sales and streams.

Or rappers featuring the hottest artists of the month to give their songs more attention.

Taylor's no less opportunistic than the average music act. Even Billie is selling albums with different vinyl variants after trying to call out artists for doing it lol.

She is absolutely going to milk it down the road.

She also released 4 vinyl variants each with 'exclusive bonus tracks' that ended up being all together on Anthology (and to stream for free), so again, why are we pretending she wasn't being misleading with these versions for pre-order lmao

Y'all would rather defend her endless greed and straightup misleading fans hen just say 'yeah there's really no need to do all that especially if you're guaranteed to have the highest sales regardless'. Stan culture has rotted your brain lmao

So you're saying there's no way she could've sold the double album on CD lmao?

Or not announce it would exist beforehand to give fans an option to wait instead of pre-ordering a half album?

Or released it at exactly at midnight so fans would be able to digitally buy it on iTunes first and not the 16 track version then see it released shortly after?

You stans are braindead to defend this woman lmao. You are also an absolute idiot if you think her keeping the full version secret until after all pre-orders were complete was anything other than maximizing additional sales.

I don’t understand how Anthology can be seen as anything but a massive ‘fuck you’ to the fans that she FOMO-pressured into buying her vinyls for the past 2 months

She would've released a physical of the Anthology during tracking week if she wanted the highest possible sales lmao

We never got Midnights 3AM tracks on vinyl- I hope we get the Anthology on there tho

Idg how she scammed anyone, everyone got what they paid for. I'm supposed to be mad she's getting money?

She wouldn’t have because physicals have to be pressed and made weeks in advance and it would’ve eventually been known she had a different version of the album with 2x the tracks before the release.

Hence fans would’ve not preordered the incomplete half versions in masses and instead waited for the full-encompassing version.

    You catching on finally?

Which streaming record? Because if we're talking about THE RECORD as in most streamed of all time she's still 21 billion behind. Won't ever pass him up btw but she could have the scraps whatever record you're talking about
