not global nah, maybe 5 years ago, that's why i am actually shocked Search & Rescue outstreamed this new Weeknd single globally since Weeknd is f***ing huge globally rn & this is the lead single for a project he has teased for over a year
I think Search & rescue was a surprise drop from what i remember too

This just seems to be the case for Weeknd singles.

One of the Girls, which is a few spots ahead of Dancing in the Flames right now, debuted with 1.7 million streams at #127 and was off the global chart the next day.

And a year later it’s currently pulling in 2.8 million streams at #17.

Weeknd has really never been an artist whose singles have made major initial splashes. The majority of his hits have been very slow burns.

I won’t pass judgement on this song’s commercial performance until about 6 months down the line when it’s sat for some time

It was never released before, never leaked, nothing.

Just because it was recorded before doesn’t make it an old release, plenty of new songs were recorded in years before they released
