Can we make a thread about it?

Let's ask the Europeans here who's bigger in Europe

One less popular album does not determine a superstar's overall popularity. Case in point: Honestly, Nevermind

That album is precisely why its a dumb way to measure an artists popularity though, if the artist puts out an album with very little replay value or a different style of course its not gonna do anything longterm

What about Dua Lipa? Literally 2 of the biggest albums of the last 10+ years yet her new album went triple cardboard, s*** debut, s*** longterm, there's nothing there. but based on the sales of her 2 previous albums she's a top 10 popular artist in the world.

Those 2 Dua albums have probably outsold every Kendrick project combined & doubled worldwide. Yet I honestly think Kendrick has 10x more fans than Dua

You always post this as some sort of gotcha, without acknowledging the fact that these stats include North America, where we all can admit that Drake is bigger.

When we say "The Weeknd is bigger globally than Drake" we mean in all of the other parts of the world outside of their home countries (US & Canada)

    This is insane lol
So whenever someone says "the weeknd is bigger than drake globally"

you think everyone should assume theyre really saying "the weeknd is bigger than drake outside of canada and the us and the uk"
don't say globally then. say asia & mexico lol

Asia, South America, Europe and Africa. Basically everywhere else

I would even say that Weeknd is more popular in Canada too

Go to any date you want lol, you'll rarely find him top 3, you'll almost always find Drake top 3 though

even a month after dropping Dawn FM, Drake was above him, weird tbh

Is the UK in North America?

Drake hasn't toured Europe in over 5 years, buddy.

Iknow because I was there at his most recent concert

    This is a US-dominant site.

It's not hard to understand that when someone says "globally" here, they mean everywhere outside of the US and not including the US

All you do is move the goalposts. None of these words have anything to do with what you originally said about After Hours not being a good measure of popularity because it was successful longterm

Now the US shouldn't be regarded as a part of the world because that's the only way an argument can be made for The Weeknd being a bigger artist than Drake

This is insane. You know good and well that when someone says "globally" they're referring to other parts of the planet outside of the artist's home country. It's really not that hard to understand.

Drake is more popular in North America.

The Weeknd is more popular everywhere else

Lol no s*** a pop album outsells a rap album longterm

But first day/first week numbers are all about hype & hardcore fanbases. Which shows & proves Drake is huge in Europe & bigger than The Weeknd

This is Nicki Minaj level logic lol.

Abel's albums and hits are generally bigger globally than Drake's albums and hits and they're not too far off in the U.S. either considering all of his Diamond singles.

"The Weeknd is 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 times bigger than Drake globally!"

    And yet...

Y'all keep insisting the Weeknd is bigger than Drake globally and yet, he's never ranked higher than him even once lmao.

It’s almost like their total includes North America, which we’ve all conceded that Drake is bigger in and which makes up a big chunk of that total stat

Drake is more popular in North America.

The Weeknd is more popular everywhere else

Stop arguing with her we will see when drake does his world tour if he sells out arena’s in Europe lol

Because it’s a fact. I went to his concert in Amsterdam I’m not a hater. It’s just a simple fact that the weeknd his songs get way more traction in Europe than drake his songs. Only thing I will give drake he is a bigger celebrity but not in terms of music compared to the weeknd.

Last time I heard a drake song in public here in Amsterdam was with views. Not even hating or lying. His albums don’t have longevity neither replay value. When was the last time the guy had an organic hit in Europe with replay value.. one dance?

  • Don’t even get me started on the quality you guys are probably claiming for all the dogs is a better album with more replay value than dawn fm because Dawn flopped..

Weeknd doing bigger venues in Toronto

Drake has always been to afraid to do Stadium tours because he is afraid he can't do numbers globally there and he is afraid he can't perform in stadium as he is an average performer and performing in stadium for rappers is hard.

Here are their numbers a month apart from less than a year ago in toronto:

    Weekend 2 shows: 87,101 / 87,101 $10,231,250
    Drake 2 shows: 34,290 / 34,290 (100%) $6,644,203

It's not always about the most streams. Globally weekend is bigger.

Also all you clowns who never go to concerts/travel globally can't talk. Stop seeing hip hop and rnb as anime/fantasy football bs,
