people saying he’s bigger than drake now and he stole his thunder so his first album after the beef is gonna be the real litmus test for how big he really is

    people are idiots then

the gap between him and drake was fairly large and you can’t close that gap by simply winning a beef,

contrary to popular belief rap beefs barely affect carreers positively or negatively. the only thing that matters is the music

FAM SAID PANDORA STREAMS MUCH HIGHER

Drake's the biggest rapper on there and you're dumb if you think being able to amass streams from other platforms doesn't matter. Morgan Wallen songs are as dominant as they are on the charts because he is massive on Amazon Music. Streams from that platform also helps him a lot whenever he drops a new album.

    Fan boys in shambles

Their papi only did 200k with his latest surprise release

They gonna say “oh it was a dance album” to cope as well when kdot outsells it with ease

    You're delusional.

Personally i would say that Drake’s numbers are often inflated due to his crossover hits. Which isnt a bad thing, but i don’t think the gap between the big 3 members is as big as the numbers would make you thinks.

    For exp.
My mom and aunt loves songs like Hold On We’re Going Home, but they’re not Drake fans.

I used to work at Pier 1, and the middle aged white women there would be singing along to Passionfruit when it came on the store radio. But those same women is in no way bumping Jimmy Cooks today

He’s still huge regardless. But I feel like Drake gets a lot of numbers from older folks, or demographics that arent going to engage with his content much beyond a couple of dance and pop records he drops.

What are you talking about. So should we only count fans that go to the concerts? Should we only count fans that are members of the subreddit?

“Drake’s numbers are inflated because he makes music that a lot of people like”

    Yeah no s***

That's why they should have shut up and stayed away from acting like Drake's numbers are easy to put up. The success of NLU gassed niggas up to talk down on Drake's success and now that the first Kendrick rap album after the beef won't be coming close to the numbers of Drake's last album, we've got excuses.

Y’all can say “no album with (insert excuse) has ever done more than (insert cope) number of streams” but this Kendrick album was supposed to be record breaker. It was supposed to be the crowning moment.

But in reality all it’s proving is that he’s still right where he was before in terms of popularity. At most you could say that he’s neck and neck with Drake, but not elevated above him. And if you wanted to be less generous you could also make the argument that he’s still solidly in third place behind Drake and Travis.

Travis?? Utopia moved 250k streaming units on 19 songs

I’ll be back when GNX bodies that number

drake did 250k with dark lane demo tapes which was a 12 track surprise album with like half the songs already leaked no bundles i guess that’s the closest thing you can compare it to if you wanna go tit for tat with sales

Also, remember DLDT dropped smack dab in the middle of the pandemic when streams were crazy low and still managed those numbers.

    on a serious note

why is kendrick supposed to do the biggest numbers all of a sudden?

and even if he does, what would that prove?

does it mean he lost the beef if he debuts with 300k instead of 500k?

idg why this is so important

Because everyone was suggesting he was now the #1 biggest rapper in the world after vanquishing Drake. Now it's time to show and prove, the exact way the #1 guy is required to do whenever he drops.

Fein bigger than any Kendrick song ever.

Travis’ tour doing circles around Kendrick’s

All I said was the argument could be made

Cole's last 3 albums have each had 12 tracks and they've all done massive numbers so them using 12 tracks as an excuse as to why the guy they believe is now the biggest rapper in the world can't monster numbers after insisting that he'd gotten millions of fans simply off dissing Drake is hilarious to see.

How is that a bad thing? Kendrick can try his hand at those types of songs if he wants to. No one said he couldn't.
