GMX has fallen off a decent amount faster than I expected, people get bored of rap so fast now

this guy is now collabing with other artists (Pharrell) for bundles for the album

  • How there hasn't been a separation of stats from the steaming era to the stats pre streaming is wild af and bs to me. Kids going to grow up thinking MJ and The Beatles were mid tier superstars and that Blinding Lights was the biggest song in the history of humanity

Not even tryna start a stan war but whats up with drakes streams exploding in spotify all the sudden

Especially with spotify not being included in the re-submission of the lawsuit a few weeks ago

    Seems a lil weird

His streams aren't "exploding." He averaged 38-40M daily streams throughout 2024. A couple songs of his recently started going viral on TikTok and that's taken him to a 43M peak on the strongest streaming days. That's all there is to it.

intersting back in september he was averaging 35-36mil

wonder if ppl just missing drake starting to stream more or those cold months hit and its that szn

Great numbers for Cench honestly. He’s outdoing a lot of his American peers. Is this now the highest selling first week for a British rapper?

Official prediction from a Weeknd fan:

Hurry Up Tomorrow - 375K first week.

    In comparison:

    After Hours (444K)
    BBTM (415K)
    Starboy (350K)
    Dawn Fm (150K)
    Kiss Land (95k)

Side note him doing 170K with My Dear Melancholy, is nuts considering its literally only 6 songs. That selena breakup + return to dark rnb stimmy went crazy

375k is insane considering nobody outside his fanbase is talking about this release

what are you talking abt, the whol pop side of twitter is talking abt the album, and even speculating abt some crazy features. timeless is also a certified hit. also to put it into perspective, abel has hit 140k minimum in just streams alone since bbtm. and you can factor in another 150k-200k with the pure sales. this hitting 300k at minimum. plus if the album is a slapper since day 1 like after hours, it'll 100% increase.

people forget the first projection of after hours was 375K including pure sales, but during the week it had such good word of mouth and people were streaming the entire album that it pushed to 444k.

Even if this was true (it’s not), it wouldn’t matter. When you’re as big as The Weeknd, it doesn’t really matter if “nobody outside of your fanbase is talking about this release”. See: Taylor Swift

Interes to know how much is streams of that 375k

After Dawn FM flopped and debuted second to Gunna. I know Weeknd want a success with this new one

honestly if we're just going by past data and even a comparison w someone like Taylor/travis. usually it goes 60-65% pure sales and 40% streams.

thats why I believe 300K is a lock. He's doing 150k with streams forsure (dawn fm did that and it's his least approachable project since kiss land) and he should do at min another 150k with pure sales.

It will be consistent with all of his albums. Expect 130K to 160K in streaming units. Possibly more if the album is long with a lot of big name features

The first official numbers HDD projected for After Hours was 400k+.

Expect nothing but sunshine for XO/Republic's The Weeknd, as his sixth studio album, After Hours, is on pace for a monster bow. The LP is projected to move 400k+ units and contend for the largest debut of the year.

The 400k+ total is made up of streaming equivalent albums of 160-200k and ticket/D2C bundles close to that, combined with album sales projecting over 200k. BTS currently owns the biggest 2020 first week with 422k.

    hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=320561&title=WORKING-THE-WEEKND-SHIFT-(UPDATE)

The album was initially projected to do 160-200k in SEA units and ended up doing 163k in SEA units so, no, people didn't stream the album more as the tracking week went on as much as the Weeknd pushed more bundles, which in turn drove up his numbers to its eventual 444k debut (it ended up debuting with 275k units in sales and 163k units in streams).
