what are you talking abt, the whol pop side of twitter is talking abt the album, and even speculating abt some crazy features. timeless is also a certified hit. also to put it into perspective, abel has hit 140k minimum in just streams alone since bbtm. and you can factor in another 150k-200k with the pure sales. this hitting 300k at minimum. plus if the album is a slapper since day 1 like after hours, it'll 100% increase.

people forget the first projection of after hours was 375K including pure sales, but during the week it had such good word of mouth and people were streaming the entire album that it pushed to 444k.

Even if this was true (it’s not), it wouldn’t matter. When you’re as big as The Weeknd, it doesn’t really matter if “nobody outside of your fanbase is talking about this release”. See: Taylor Swift

Dawn FM showed this isn't true at all. People weren't talking about that album came out, and it resulted in low FW streams and bad performance going forward. The Weeknd isn't anywhere near that league of Taylor/Drake/Kendrick/;Bad Bunny etc

You literally said Bad Bunny was going the Post Malone route in the US the week the album dropped, then you haven’t said a word about it since you were so clearly wrong.

Also Chromakopia should be compared to GNX, not Morale. CMIGYL is the album that should be compared to Chromakopia. You’re cherry picking because you’re wrong.

By that same logic, I can easily say After Hours is bigger than any Kendrick album besides DAMN.

Same can be said for her, Weeknd, Drake, Beyonce, Bad Bunny, etc.

I never once claimed The Weeknd was as big as Taylor Swift.

1 billion is nowhere near as big as 10 billion, but both are still astronomically large numbers

Same way if Taylor’s next album dropped without physicals. She would go from 2.6 million with TTPD to about 400-500K first week with streaming only.

A relatively massive drop off, but still respectable considering the size of her fanbase and the fact that there are no physicals.

You have this weird habit of judging artists’ status solely by their immediate last work and taking no context into account whatsoever.

Drake did not lose superstar status because Honestly, Nevermind only did 200K first week, the same way that The Weeknd did not lose that status because Dawn only did 150K

Dawn FM dropping without physicals makes The Weeknds fanbase look even worse though? because a lot of people that woulda listened on pure, were forced to stream, but he still did very low streaming numbers compared to other artists.

TTPD did 700k~ streaming units, Dawn FM did like 130k. Dawn FM basically seemed like only his real fans bothered listening & no one else did
