people so stupid nowadays. bundles got stopped in 2021. abel sold PURE SALES which is vinyls and cds. how people in here hating that he got a fanbase thats willing to buy his albums??
Taylor does it = Wow she's such a huge artist, most dominant blah blah blah
Travis does it = wow biggest rapper under drake
Weeknd does it = he's selling bundles, the album isn't big
?????
It’s hitting 400K
Getting 10B+ streams
Stadium tour going to probably average 9-10M per show
Damn surpassed my expectations
Watching Drake stans ITT nitpick 375k for the past week because they felt they needed to defend Papi's honor only for Abel to sell another 75k on top of that

OP of that post was literally one of the worst and most annoying posters on this entire site
only impressive first week from Abel was MDM, tbh
feels like his fanbase is divided into 2 groups: the mixtape loyalists and the pop fans
MDM-style music seems to be something most of his audience connects with, which is why it performed so well for an EP
most the sales were preorders prior to release
i see nothing wrong with that

THE GOAT
Didn't know people f*** with Pride like that
Crazy W for Weeknd! It’s official now he’s on a different level compared to Drake and it's not even close.
HUT moved nearly 3x the numbers of Drake’s last weedplate, damn. Drake ain't even the biggest name in Toronto anymore let alone the US smh.
Hockey stans @thegreatdivine @quadra @mangotflu @Wally3500 will cope as usual. Divine looney was hating on Weeknd since last summer and just took a HUGE L lol.
First they hated on Travis then Bad Bunny (didn't work) and now Weeknd just handed them another L.
Drake is officially #2 in his own city lol. And while everyone else is pulling record streams Drake is the only one struggling. That’s what happens when karma catches up.

Stopped reading after the first 2 characters. Too woke
I think someone said it's lower than Dawn FM and After Hours.
A decent amount lower in the US
A decent amount higher globally (in the phillipines and zimbabwe)
its simply because:
1) The Weeknd has lost footing in the US and many other countries in recent years (his style of music is just not resonating as well as it used to)
2) Spotify is now huge in many countries where it wasn't big a few years ago, where they absolutely love pop

It’s definitely impressive to sell that many physicals. But it makes sense to look at the SEA units as well. Streaming is by far the main way that this music is actually being consumed
Testing my theory that these global weeknd numbers are almost entirely due to the new "unlocked" countries
Spotify Daily Day 1s:
HUT:
USA: 18.3m
Canada: 2.9m
United Kingdom: 3.15m
Germany:1.98m
After Hours:
USA: 24.5m
Canada: 3.7m
United Kingdom: 3.7m
Germany: 2.7m
So HUT performed quite a bit worse than AH in all 4 of some of his major markets, especially considering 6 less tracks. However he made up for it because of the new unlocked markets in Asia and South America
On the flip side to defend The Weeknd, this is exactly why Die With a Smile has destroyed Blinding Lights in streams. For some reason people like @fader are ignoring this. Comparing global pop numbers now vs years ago is basically useless

Southeast Asia is still booming and if a pop song connects there, 10M+ daily streams will be the norm going forward.
A better way to compare performance now v years ago is chart position imo
HUT top 5 songs globally:
10th, 14th, 24th, 59th, 62nd. (avg 33rd)
AH top 5 songs globally after 7days:
1st, 9th, 20th, 33rd, 40th. (avg 20th)

dope as hell, thank you
It's insane seeing Indonesia go from 1.2b in 2017, to 19.9b in 2024
Same with PH going from 3.2b to 13.7b

Spotify‘s marketing is great ngl
450k wow
Only 130K from streaming, the rest of the units are from bundles
Not impressive but he didn't go for the numbers with this one so who cares
