That's not true for anything in the streaming era. It all boils down to how many people are actually consuming the music you've put up. At the rate she's going, Billie Eilish might cross 100B streams on Spotify before she ever has up to 100 songs on the platform. That's because her fans stream the hell out of her music.

Not sure if you're referring to my post, but FWIW I'm not trying to compare them, just using a general example for a general concept that can be applied to anyone -- Billie, Kendrick, Drake, whoever

Yeah, it's a really weak and nonsensical argument that falls apart as soon as you apply any bit of logical thought to it.

Let's say tomorrow Billie Eilish doubles her streaming catalog by releasing another 80 songs. Her fans don't magically start listening to twice as much Billie Eilish forevermore - the number of fans and the amount of time they spend listening actually now gets diluted across a larger number of songs, which will hurt the performance of individual projects and likely not affect her total numbers at all.

It's the same way with albums; it's silly to project 2x songs = 2x streams. The vast majority of people don't base their consumption habits on # of full playthroughs of an album, they spend X amount of time listening to Y artist.

This is just purely false. Outside of the greater variety for regular human appeal (some people may like only one or two Billie eilish songs and having more songs appeals to a wider number of people), More songs = more playlisting, more algorithmic shuffling, and more exposure.

Now you're just getting into different topics like the diversity of music that an artist makes. An artist can have a diverse catalog with a bunch of different sounds with either 80 or 160 or 400 songs. You're right that more diverse artists will have more mass appeal, obviously. But that's a different argument. You can't guarantee that the next 80 songs Billie (in this example) releases will have sonic or content diversity from the first 80, and you can't just randomly extrapolate to TWICE the streams just because there are twice as many songs. I'm sure there is a correlated relationship there, but I doubt very much that it's 1:1 linear the way it's always claimed to be
