It’s wild to think Drake and Kendrick are the polar figures in hiphop, like everyone has a rival and it’s just cool to see these two always being put together as opponents

For 15 years straight dawg. I respect the f*** out of both of them

    Definitely

Are today's country singers super openly far right, singing about Trump and MAGA and s***? I haven't ever listened to country music willingly

    Morgan ain't

He's basically makes songs about women with a country tinge. its barely country, its mainly pop music

There was a song that once got to #1 called "Try That in a Small Town." I'm sure you can sense out the vibes from that title alone

The only real takeaway from that article is their estimate at the relationship of # of tracks -> sales for first week. They're saying in the case of Morgan Wallen's 36-track album, they think a version with half as many songs would've sold 360k instead of 501k first week

I wasn’t talking about the article (didn’t read it) I was just using common sense. These are Drake’s bottom 10 songs... they’re all getting streams. Yea the numbers are low but they’re still there. The higher you go the more streams his tracks get and Drake has nearly 300 more songs than Kendrick.

If you think about it, that s*** almost mirrors Jay Z and Nas, except that instead of Nas releasing his DAMN, he churns out Nastradamus

I mean you’d have to be seriously slow to not understand this. Every single one of Drake’s 509 songs is getting streams. Kendricks got 230 songs and every single one is also getting streams. If he had 1000 songs all 1000 would be getting streams.

They keep wanting to make the false statement that if there were less songs, the streams the excess songs are getting would be equally distributed on those less songs anyway.

Which has no basis in reality.

An obvious example of this: If I’m listening to a 15 song album, I’m generally going to finish the album. If it had 16 songs, I would listen to all 16. But I’m also not putting on a random different song by that artist after the 15th song is over to make up for it.

Kendrick was lying about Drake stans...hey, Drake, they're not slow

Here’s a better example. These are Drake songs past 320 that are still getting streamed.

When you add it all up even past 350 that’s a couple million streams daily

Yeah I wouldn't doubt for a second there's at least a 10% increase through the mechanisms you mentioned, playlist exposure and the like. I'm really just trying to dismantle the assertion that it's 2x the way a lot of people here like to claim with zero evidence, cough cough @fader

I’ve already broken this down ITT.

If you take the number of Drake tracks getting LESS than 100K daily plays across his entire catalog on Spotify, it comes out to the exact same percentage as every other artist in his tier of popularity. Around 70-77%.

You can’t tell me that Drake having near 500 songs in his catalog AND ALSO being extremely popular doesn’t drastically affect how wide the gap is in streams that he has above other artists.

@fader this is exactly what I was talking about yesterday re streams and quality. Might start a thread on this topic...

This is why I respect artists like Frank Ocean, Rihanna, Kendrick and others who take yrs off. If the art isn’t coming from the right place it’s better to keep it on the shelf and only put out the album when it truly feels right.
