Timeless still at #19 after six months btw. Let’s revisit this post in August to see where NOKIA is after six months!
celebrating a song being #19 off his last album ever as the Weeknd just 6 weeks after release is crazy work. the glazing is CRAZY
talking of r&b collabs, hows luther doing
$$$4U is not a flop by any means. It debuted with less than 250k units and is still pulling 80k units after a month.
It has a song in the top 10 and rising. How is that a flop, especially when compared to Hurry Up Tomorrow?
don’t mind me. i’m just tryna ragebait
every playlist man. industry backing this flop so hard it's insane
Wow one of the biggest songs in the country is on all the hiphop playlists? damn

Timeless was the second single from the album and released 6 months ago
Nice for What, the second single from Scorpion, was completely off the Hot 100 six months after it released

it was on these playlists before it hit the top 20

Yeah that's how albums work, hits replace others lol. Scorpion had like 2-3 more hits after NFW. HUT has had 0 after Timeless
The future is here old mans Carti bigger than Drake

God's Plan - 11 weeks at #1.
Nice for What - 8 weeks at #1.
In My Feelings - 10 weeks at #1.
All 3 songs are Diamond-eligble, along with Nonstop, which peaked at #2.

Is that how it works?
Late October 2016, six months after One Dance released, it remained the highest charting song from Views, at #17.
Why didn’t any other song from the album replace it and chart higher than it?

Nice for What and In My Feelings both completely disappeared from the chart after half a year. Where’s the longevity?
Let’s make ban bets on if NOKIA will still be on the Hot 100 by Summer 2025
Cope
Cope
Cope
Hurry Up and Flop: 490.5k > 101k > 58k
$$$4U: 246k > 119k > 90k
One of these things is not like the other.
This stat got me thinking if selling physicals and digital albums is not worth it for artists in the long run. If you buy a digital download, you are probably not going to stream the album anymore.
So while you might get a great first week, in long term you lose a bit of sales

Nobody is bumping those cds and vinyl on the regular tbh. Album just didnt stick

Outstreaming $$$4U globally btw

I am not saying this to defend HUT. Its nowhere near a flop but it shows that the album does not have any real staying power in the US
I am just saying it in general. And while I agree the Vinyls are more for the collection. Nowadays a lot of artists sell digital downloads as special editions like Carti right now. If i already have the album digitally, I won’t stream it. Thats all im saying

timeless is the definition of 'moderate hit'
the farewell of the weeknd was a moderate hit lol

The farewell of The Weeknd was the highest first week sales for any album in 2025.
Genuinely hilarious how this thread just decided that first week sales don’t matter anymore as soon as the guy they don’t like had a better debut sales week than anyone else so far this year
The farewell of The Weeknd was the highest first week sales for any album in 2025.
first week sales can be inflated with some tricks, I see the singles performance as more indicative of where the artist stands right now (despite autoplay and I'm sure he had heaps of it)
Is that how it works?

It was also much harder to chart "random" songs in 2016
what i said even happened to the weeknd, to a lesser extent since BL was carried by radio

In 2018 it was very very rare for songs to last over 6 months
it's now very common
billboard.com/charts/hot-100/2019-01-08
1st week of 2019, 6 monts after Scorpion dropped
0 songs over 40 weeks
billboard.com/charts/hot-100 last week
10 over 40 weeks
insane difference
