The most dominant song in the country for the last 2 months straight is not even half as catchy or memorable as the bottom half of the top 20 at any period before this year
Pop yeah
rap i don't agree at all, it's the same, if not better
So Be It would be doing 1m+ a day minimum before this year
How the hell is Tyler doing 215K with only four days of tracking AND with a surprise dance album
Kinda crazy that people really believe the botting stuff lmao
Numbers have greatly tumbled for everyone though, there's no denying
Slime Language 2 was ass, filled with artists smaller than JackBoys 2, with a lead artist a lot smaller than Trav
Slime Language 2 107k streaming units
Jack Boys 2 a few years later 72k
chromokopia -> new album streaming units down 50%

Cool? That has nothing to do with bots. People are just tired about rap
I’m not here to argue with you anyway

Proven wrong like a b**** again

you'd have to be willfully ignorant to pretend like spotify numbers haven't been down considerably compared to a year ago, and quite honestly the "everyone hit their head and forgot how to write hit songs" excuse only goes so far.
doesn't have to be bots though, it could be other changes to the algorithm. they might have changed autoplay so it isn't as concentrated on a handful of songs.

Slime language 2 had way bigger artists on it than Jackboys 2 so obviously it outsold and Chromokopia had a much bigger scaled rollout than this tyler album

slime language 2 also had a full week of tracking, a mid-week deluxe, a ton of big features, gunna is pretty much as big as thug, and i believe people who buy merch/cd bundles get a download too so some of them would probably not be streaming it
Slime language 2 had way bigger artists on it than Jackboys 2 so obviously it outsold and Chromokopia had a much bigger scaled rollout than this tyler album
it was also litered with artists that people don't give a f*** about which made it a hard listen though
it only really had Drake, Travis, Gunna. Jack Boys 2 had damn travis scott on every song
jackboys 2 didn't even manage to outstream its seven track predecessor from five years ago.

tylers was a surprise drop tbh, chromakopia had a lil small rollout with some s*** being premiered a nd a song before im pretty sure
Jackboys 2 was simply ass and caused people to turn it off. Terrible mixing will literally deter people away on top on whatever bad selectioned beats
I'm not even ssaying its bots for sure btw
just hard to believe like 30-50% of rap listeners have randomly all decided to stop listening all at the same time, in the last few months
makes no sense

Bottom part 100%. I have noticed it

The music is WEAK. It’s as simple as that. Rap has been creatively stagnant for 6 years now
this has been said every year for like 5 years now
the quality isn't way worse than prev years
yet this is the first time numbers have greatly tumbled
What are some 2025 songs that should’ve been hits then?
Spot on prediction.

People have been saying this since like 2019
Yet this is the first time we've seen a giant sudden drop
if this was listening habits you'd see a gradual decrease, we haven't seen that
Look at GNX's performance man

It’s not like there was a huge rap beef last year or anything that may have influenced some people’s overall feelings about modern day rap music
it was also litered with artists that people don't give a f*** about which made it a hard listen though

The album was garbage asf but having Uzi, Gunna, lil baby and Meek on there def helped it out a lot with the numbers. Jackboys 2 only got Future and carti doing the same recycled s*** and none of the songs on there as catchy as Ski was.

Rap was doing stupid numbers right after that though?? Carti's single was some of the most insane numbers ever lmao
so was Tyler's album, then GNX
