The album was garbage asf but having Uzi, Gunna, lil baby and Meek on there def helped it out a lot with the numbers. Jackboys 2 only got Future and carti doing the same recycled s*** and none of the songs on there as catchy as Ski was.

When CHROMAKOPIA dropped I remember @mangotflu saying how impressive it was that it did 150K streaming with only four days tracking, now he’s completely ignoring that, despite Jackboys 2’s mediocre streaming performance, it only had five days of tracking, and it undoubtedly would’ve cleared 100K in streaming units with a traditional Friday release

you'd have to be willfully ignorant to pretend like spotify numbers haven't been down considerably compared to a year ago, and quite honestly the "everyone hit their head and forgot how to write hit songs" excuse only goes so far.

doesn't have to be bots though, it could be other changes to the algorithm. they might have changed autoplay so it isn't as concentrated on a handful of songs.

Yeah because music as a whole went down this year and I’m pretty sure Spotify tweaked autoplay since I’m not getting the same songs over and over again

This has nothing to do with botting and only stupid Drake stans want to believe this so they’re crying the whole day about this

Rap was doing stupid numbers right after that though?? Carti's single was some of the most insane numbers ever lmao

so was Tyler's album, then GNX

“Some of the most insane numbers ever”

Most people have completely forgotten that song even exists

this is like comparing Drake to Gunna man

Tyler was never a streaming artist until arguably Chromokopia, like 8 albums in or some s***. So him blowing up with that album and doing 150k in 5 days was absolutely huge

Trav has been a streaming artist for like 8 years now. 100k for him with 20 tracks is a huge underperformance

    jackboys 1 did 70k with 7 tracks

Yeah because we’re heavily into traditional rap but the reason why it did over 100k was because of the good rollout

People tapped in and talked about it the whole week on social media

It also confirms for me at least that many people are over the general basic trap beats

Daytona is a classic but less people listened to it in 2018 because mainstream ignored traditional rap

Jackboys 2 only went #1 because of the pure sales, s*** would’ve flopped huge time without that

In order to say botting was responsible for 30 -40% decrrase in streams you are talking a massive conspiracy spanning multiple labels and companies feel like its very far fetched

And let’s play devil’s advocate and say that was what was actually happening. Then the next question is: and? Wouldn’t it be a good thing if all botting was completely removed? Why is that something people would be complaining about?

YSL2 did obviously more because Gunna and Thug had momentum in 2021 and it was covid like dawg of course people had more time and listened to it more

Jackboys 2 had no momentum at all. S*** came and went after 8 hours

The reasons why DON’T TAP THE GLASS is not performing as well as CHROMAKOPIA are three very simple reasons:

    1. CHROMAKOPIA is still performing well for Tyler. He’s still on a very successful tour for said album, and it’s still at #93 on the Billboard 200 after having released 9 months ago. For context, CMIGYL was at #146 nine months post-release. There was no clamor or hunger for a new Tyler album so soon while his most recent one is still relevant in people’s minds. This can also be referred to as The Dawn FM Effect.

    2. The album is shorter than CHROMAKOPIA. It’s actually the shortest album in his entire discography, in both tracklist length andruntime. If you don’t know by now, album length directly impacts first week streaming numbers. The more tracks you have, the more likely it is to have more streams in your first week.

    3. This is the first Tyler album since Cherry Bomb to have a pretty mixed reception overall. Some people think the rapping is weak, some people don’t like the singing, some feel like some of the Tyler-isms have overstayed their welcome in his work. Whatever the reason, the album is not seeing the near unanimous praise that his stretch of albums from Flower Boy to CHROMAKOPIA received. This is subjective, but it also directly impacts how much people are returning to the album, again directly impacting the first week numbers.
