That's what makes this even more insane though to be fair.. 99.9% artists could drop 3 albums in a few years that long and they'd fall off fast as f*** because people would be bored

but his fans are eating it up more and more

Yeah because they’re racist and simple minded. He’s a MAGA-adjacent white country artist who blew up more after getting caught saying the N word and he makes the lowest common denominator country music imaginable. It’s not surprising that they eat it up

Now every artist must be using bots because the Weeknd/XO have gotten exposed as using them

You are delusional if you don’t think every artist that has ever sold at least 100K+ first week has used bots in some capacity.

13 albums outstreaming it out of the… thousands upon thousands of albums that get released every year.

Y’all talk about music in here like there’s a total of 50 releases a year

you were one of the people saying sza's performance is due to the length though?

These guys are in the Sales thread so they obviously understand that sales matters. They just pick and choose when it benefits their argument. I don’t listen to Morgan Wallen but I’m in Texas and a lot of people here love his music

    “Lotta racists love his music”

    There fixed it for ya.

Y’all: “omg all these botting allegations have origins with The Weeknd!!!”

  • Sep 1, 2025

The Weeknd uses so many bots that his music has never been the dominant streaming force in America at any point in his career, and has underperformed in America for the better part of the 2020s. They really putting those bots to work

Calling an album that sold 2.61M copies first week a “massive flop” is certainly a choice

  • Sep 1, 2025

The Tortured Poets Department had the highest total units sold in 2024, the highest pure sales in 2024, the highest streams in 2024, and spent 17 weeks at #1, making it the longest running #1 female album of the 21st Century. If that album is a flop, then every album ever released is a flop

  • Sep 1, 2025

I don’t understand why, for some of y’all in here, Drake & Morgan Wallen are the only two artists whose numbers you respect. It truly makes no sense whatsoever

Oh so now longterm performance means nothing to you, when just months ago it was everything to you in regards to The Weeknd

    interesting

The album longterm performed its way to the #1 album of 2024 in every statistical category you could think of

and just 12 months later its not even a top 10 streamed album of the year lol

For an artist as big as her, that is bad.

its being outstreamed by a 2 year old 14 track chappel roan album. come on. its a year newer, double the tracks and its TAYLOR SWIFT

These random criteria you have for artists you don’t like is odd. The Tortured Poets Department was a massive commercial success no matter which way you try to slice it

Initially yeah, but you can't deny its longterm performance is a flop

SOUR 11 tracks streams in 2022 (the year AFTER release): 1.37b

TTPD (31 tracks, almost 3x more lol) in 2025: projected to be roughly 1.4b

how can you possibly deny this

using your logic, ttpd would be like the 30th most streamed album of the year if it had 15 tracks

This is like saying Michael Jordan’s career after the Bulls was a failure.

Like… okay? The album went basically halfway to Diamond in 8 months

Anything that happens after that is pretty much moot

Hilarious that you can’t understand what the idea of an exception to a rule is. I don’t really care about the longterm performance of an album that sold 5M units in 8 months.

Some of y’all have absolutely ridiculous expectations for these artists man. Niggas calling an album that moved 5M units in 8 months a massive flop, what are we even talking about anymore
