So far, Doja Cat's album is underperforming on US Apple Music.

thug's album isn't doing great either. the gap between his highest and second highest song tells me that a lot of people listened to that intro song and refused to continue lol.

Her album might pick up steam over time like Scarlet did.

Thug's album is very mediocre so I'm not surprised it isn't performing better. It'll definitely perform worse than Business is Business because that flopped hard and it had much better songs compared to this latest release.

I think her going for a retro sound on the album will bite her in the ass in the long run. Retro sounds have been exhausted in the mainstream since 2022. That's why the Weeknd tried to double back with that sound/style on Dawn FM and flopped.

There are more catchy songs on this album compared to Scarlet but I guess it's too early to say if any of them will actually take off. Jealous Type has been out for some a solid month now and it hasn't really done anything on the charts.

With Scarlet, she had Paint the Town Red as a legit hit before the album even dropped and she isn't nearly established enough as an artist to have a successful era without at least 1 hit already in the can. We'll see what happens, though. I wish her all the best.

I fear a well written danceable pop song with a good hook and 80s snares has no chance at sticking around in the top 10 in 2025.

He's echoing the same sentiments Fader Man echoed when Travis Scott was selling $5 Utopia vinyls to boost his numbers for 4 weeks and trying to pass it off like it was some huge favor to real fans when many of them came online and spoke on how they never even got their vinyls delivered but yet they counted towards Travis' numbers simply because they were shipped

All this for an album that'll likely have completely crashed by week 2/week 3 is definitely a choice.
