scarlet did like 65k streaming units this could do half that.
First week streams have been down across the board for pretty much everyone this year. Besides going from 70K to 35-40K isn’t really that big of a deal for an artist who still doesn’t have a #1 album.
Commercial performance must be viewed contextually
He's echoing the same sentiments Fader Man echoed when Travis Scott was selling $5 Utopia vinyls to boost his numbers for 4 weeks and trying to pass it off like it was some huge favor to real fans when many of them came online and spoke on how they never even got their vinyls delivered but yet they counted towards Travis' numbers simply because they were shipped
I said it back then and I’ll say it again: artists discounting physical sales should never be demonized regardless of the intention.
We live in a time where most people can’t even afford to afford basic necessities without stress. If an artist wants to make a vinyl record $5, who genuinely gives a f***.
Y’all niggas too caught up in this stan wars bullshit all the time
yea it could be over for her
https://twitter.com/behzad_hudson/status/1971939126699278765She'll be fine because she's an arena act now and her tour for this album should do well so making money shouldn't be an issue. She could still score a hit/hits off the album. I just wouldn't expect them to be as big as anything from her 2020-2023 run.

No one’s saying its an evil thing. Yes it’s great for broke boys. But coming in here and celebrating numbers IGNORING what was done and for what intention, is stupid af.

Everybody at those meet and greets already bought the album
You had to buy it to be there in the first place

I think its fine outside of charts/stan wars. nobody cares irl or at all really but for charts/stan wars its funny to bring up.

It's not a "great thing" for anybody lol. Most people who own physicals (vinyls, CDs, cassettes) don't actually play them. Vinyls function more like collection items/art pieces now than music one would actually listen to. That's always been why I have an issue with their consumption counting on the charts, especially since streaming took off and became the primary way people consume their music.
Back when digital sales first became a thing, we didn't have streaming so when you bought that single on iTunes, you played that s*** as much as possible. More than 50% of people who buy vinyls now don't actually own any vinyl players to play them on so the whole thing is one huge scam artists run mostly and only to boost their numbers. That's why the numbers they do from physicals are never sustainable in the first place.

I wonder if blank vinyls would count for B200. As long as packaging right 🤔

thoughts? same cd version except the picture on the inside is different.

If me and you release an album right now for 10 cents it’s still going triple cardboard
A discount isn’t an automatic purchase, niggas still gotta buy the s***
S***ting on physicals just because you want to dunk on opposing stanbases online
It gets to a point where there's just no words
thoughts? same cd version except the picture on the inside is different.
https://twitter.com/leaks_aboutpop/status/1971666831758004268Variants =/= discounts
I’m solely talking about when an artist offers discounts on their physical copies.
What I’m saying is it doesn’t matter if their intention is to boost their sales or if it’s genuine, because EVERYTHING is too expensive nowadays so I’m not gonna sit here and demonize an artist for lowering the price of something.
A discount does not mean an automatic purchase so that’s why the sales still matter. A small artist could drop a vinyl for $2 and they still wouldn’t clear 100K first week because they’re not that popular. Y’all saying the sales don’t count if discounts are involved is crazy because nobody is forced to buy any of this s***.
I’m not mad at Cardi for employing various physical tactics; that’s just the way of the game nowadays.

Physical albums will literally always be more important than streaming and idc how much these freak losers online try to act like that isn’t the case.
Apple Music and Spotify WILL cease to exist one day. My 400+ vinyl collection will not.

https://twitter.com/leaks_aboutpop/status/1971666831758004268Same album with the same exact songs but because the have different "covers" they all count and she can make as many variants as possible, give them ridiculous names and have them all count despite them having the exact same number of songs on them but someone will tell you that's being done "for the fans" and not simply to inflate first-week numbers lmao.

yea discounts idc about especially cause there are minimum prices now (which are too high)
$5 vinyl and free shipping what travis did is a bit extreme though. It was tempting to get one 😂
Thoughts on what taylor soing though?

This not even different covers its the photo inside 😭😭
#1 albums are just marketing ploy and ego boosts nowadays, they mean no more than NY Times best sellers.
Interested in seeing how the tour does.

the equivalent of that is all of these first edition s***s without all the songs

It’s interesting that they’re nowhere to be found on the Hot 100 right now though, wonder what that’s about
