Releasing versions of an album with acoustic vocals, demo tracks, or new versions of a song w/o a remix is “dumming down” actual released version of the album imo..
She cares more about the monopoly than actually being the musician.. because why would you care as a fan to hear a demo of a song? Like you’re basically getting sold an worse version of the finished product

Artists release demos all the time as bonuses/side content. What are yall talking about in here
look, i know some people would find these efforts to be inorganic or contemptable, but there is nothing "pathetic" about it. this is about getting the all time record. who wouldnt take the shot if you have the chance of getting the all-time record of anything? especially when selling albums are hella harder than back then. if anything, u gotta respek the hustle
It's 1000% pathetic. You don't have to agree but I won't be changing my opinion that it is.

Come on man. What she’s doing is overkill
Is anyone forced to buy it?
No, but she’s primed her fanbase to be mega-collectors so she knows that they will
no where in that post did i say he would hit 1 million
i can see drake doing 600-800k if he is smart but thats the absolute peak
for him to do so he’d have to do some real marketing which I doubt he’ll ever do again
What has this to do with the chart thread?
what the hell
Birdman going ham
I’m all for pure sales, y’all know that
But it just comes to a point where you can clearly see the motivation is monetary and nothing more
No, but she’s primed her fanbase to be mega-collectors so she knows that they will
Because they like her and her music enough to want to own/collect all her stuff.
I don’t see how an artist selling music is a negative

I honestly wish more would
I love acoustic versions/demos of songs

Nobody said an artist selling music is a negative
But do you think she’s releasing these versions for artistic reasons?
At this point it’s more upsetting because you’ve already sold 3M units in one day; how much more money do you need to squeeze out of your fans?

It can be a combination of that and financial reasons, it’s still art at the end of the day, regardless of if I like it or not

She doesn’t value the music, she doesn’t value the artistry.
Bonus tracks are fine, because artists often cut down albums.. but when it’s acoustic, demo, or “ I added a new beat, or new vocals to this song”
Then you have to start questioning if the artist ever cares about their final product of the album, and if they actually care about the music as a creative medium and not just an monopoly

Right but we complain about artists bloating albums with 25+ songs to boost streams, this is no different from that

For sure, but it doesn’t really affect me because I don’t value sales very much
It also just gives us a real life example for why sales =\= quality for these weirdos on here who use it to s*** on other artists

I don’t even like Taylor swift but she is someone who has literally dedicated the majority of her life towards music so saying she doesn’t value music or art is a bit ridiculous imo.
Especially when the thing you’re upset about it her selling more music
4 more new ones available for 24 hours only
Taylors numbers been fabricated lol. Every single time she cheats even though she’d do great regardless. Its sad.

Label CEOs sell music too, do you think they value it as an art or just see it solely as a product to make money from?
YES.
There is no debate about it anymore. She is breaking the record
Meanwhile its not even top 100 biggest albums of all time. No ones going to remember it next week. S***.. no one even remembers it now. Makes zero sense.
@Nikedufflebag i feel like you’re forgetting that even if someone is super successful and talented in a field, it can still be just a job to them. There are athletes that see their sport as just a job, famous actors that view their work as just their profession… you don’t have to love something as an artform in order to be successful at it
I think any non-biased person can clearly see that for most of this decade Taylor Swift has viewed music solely as commerce and not as art that she is passionate for
People like Taylor Swift, Drake etc. are like Walmart and other huge s***ty corporations
Is it disgusting they use tactics like underpaying people, fake discounts, etc aka bloated albums or 40 different variants/demos? Yeah for sure, pure greed
Do I care? Not really, but if a nigga tells me his favorite store is Walmart I know what typa nigga I’m speaking too
