“It was written like Nas but it came from Quentin”

“How could you ever write these wrong? You don’t even write your songs”

“Tell us who Quentin was running through the 6 with (plays reference track)”

“Crack smoke is the exhaust from my pen and pad
Ghostwriters, they get to floss what you could've had”

Every beef someone has disrespected his pen. Where are you getting that people beef with him because they have this huge respect for his pen? They beef because he’s always talking trash

All I'm seeing are lines from bitter niggas who don't understand the definition of the word ghostwriter 💔

No, I do. Y'all niggas just don't know what the word means and keep insisting anybody who writes with another rapper and who isn't the main rapper themselves is automatically a ghostwriter but that's not how words work. Words mean things.

Someone who is not only openly and publicly credited for their work but is also thanked in the liner notes for their contributions to an album is NOT a ghostwriter lmao.

Most ghostwriters do not receive public credit for their work, as their anonymity is the key component of the ghostwriting agreement. The word "ghost" signifies that they remain unseen, allowing the credited author to claim the work as their own.
However, some ghostwriters do receive credit, and the extent of their recognition depends entirely on the contractual terms negotiated with the client.

Drake has a myriad of things in his career that can be criticized, whether it’s:

    • Culture Vulture claims
    • Numerous associations with much younger women
    • Artistic stagnation post-2015
    • Lack of hits post-2018
    • Working with redpill-leaning streamers
    • Promoting gambling
    • Barely marketing any of his artists

It’s crazy to think that ghostwriting is some crutch people rely on to criticize the guy

But he can, though. And he talks his s*** BECAUSE he can write and has one of the best pens in the game. This is something even niggas he has beefed with have admitted to. If his peers had such a disrespect for his pen, they wouldn't bother to jump into rap battles against him or spend years trading subliminals with him lol.

Drake got his start in the industry as a songwriter for other rappers. Back then, he formed a group where Melanie Fiona was the singer, he wrote the lyrics she sang and D10 (who tours with him till now as an instrumentalist) would produce and play instruments on their songs. It was a short-lived group because Melanie Fiona's career eventually took off but he's very established as a songwriter. That's something no one can ever take away from him and I think it annoys some of you because he has never been insecure about his songwriting ability.

Look, man, you can dislike that he's ever used co-writers (and you have a right to that as a fan of rap music, I guess) but that doesn't magically take away from the fact that he does have an elite pen, has written entire songs for other artists and has written hundreds of songs by himself lol.

Drake has written songs for Lil Wayne before but I'll be the first to smack anyone who tries to question Wayne as a rapper because of that s***.

I'd love to have an extensive discussion about this someday but I'll just say this: the fact of the matter is that as fans, we really don't know what goes on in those studio sessions. We don't know who is contributing exactly what. Song credits help, yes, but they don't always tell the whole story.

Well I actually agree that his pen game is strong. I never said that he couldn't and hasn't written. Drake has plenty of talent and know-how in that department and was absolutely a student of the game coming up.

But for years he seemed dead-set on releasing music to an (arguably) oversaturating degree and relying on all of these writers in the process. Then the streams and market share that were produced by those releases are used as reason to title him as the GOAT. Conversely, you have other rappers that have far fewer releases and do not rely these rappers that kind of get penalized in that conversation.

And don't think this is me discounting Drake's music. His music is appealing for a reason. He's massively talented in many areas. It's just my opinion that you can't use these points as an argument that you're the goat rapper when the strength of your argument kind of conflicts with the principle roots of what you're calling yourself the goat at.

Drake has written, he does write and he will write. But if he releases a Drake rap album as the goat rapper, all the bars on the album need to be his. The songs that are clearly pop focused is a different argument.

cause none of that other s*** is actually real and everyone does what he does also

also barely marketing his artist who all describe working with ovo as amazing is hilarious. you realize no one uses these points because none of them stick

also u niggas really must not even have a slight idea of how this works, what regular person will give a f*** that pusha t is criticizing drakes artistic output
