I don't care about them making better albums. I care about them making albums that have songs I enjoy going back to. What don't you get about that? You're only fixated on Kendrick having the better album. Okay, fine. He has the better album. So? People aren't going back to it despite that. It'll tumble down the charts despite that so what's the use? The music those artists made, whether I think it's the best thing out there or not doesn't matter because I can actually engage with their music for months in my life. I'm not doing that with the new Kendrick album. Why should I give a f*** about an album that's not doing s*** for me?

It's cool that CLB has some songs that will be in rotation for a few months until the next Drake expansion pack, that was the intention

Kendrick is trying to make music that will hold up for decades and add to his legacy as a positive influence on black culture if it didn't hit immediately with everyone, oh well

let drake leave his comfort zone formula on one album and man would start selling Dawn FM numbers

Knife Talk, Girls Want Girls, Fair Trade and Way 2 Sexy make up about half of the album's overall streams by themselves. Nobody is spinning F***ing Fans anymore because it's ass.

The singles from CLB were lousy and nobody talks about them anymore except to dunk on Drake saying he's a lesbian, but Drake has enough playlist presence that he'll still do numbers from mediocre songs with major features attached to them.

the fact that mid like Way 2 Sexy is a hit is the ultimate testament to Drake's commercial power. Crazy

  • Kermit

Its probably been said, but lets not forget Drake didnt even sell any physicals of CLB.

No real promo either. He just dropped it and dipped. But it's ofc different when it's Drake...

It’s not a flop though. It’s the highest selling hip hop album first week so far this year. If he’s flopping, everybody below him flopping too.

Yes and no. It’s only a flop from the perspective that everyone, even the haters, hold Kenny in high regard. Nobody expects future to do 300k because he never has in the past, kendrick has multiple times

Also sales doesn’t automatically mean the music is the greatest thing ever created, it just means more people are f***ing with your music (there are exceptions of course)

Whether you think those people have s*** tastes than that’s on you but I don’t give a f*** about that, if I enjoy the music and other people don’t then I don’t think my music tastes are better, we just have different tastes in music. Nobody has better music taste than anybody else, f*** off with that dumb ass mentality

Nope. Different taste than me = worse taste

Music with high replay value is much more impressive than making a typical album like MMATBS. It's a ok album but there's something about albums like CLB that makes people keep coming back for more

What metric do we use to determine if an album is "holding up for decades"?

It's flopping because clearly people don't care for the music on it, regardless of what the supposed quality of said music is.

Lol yea I mean if Kendrick put a bunch of Tik tok dances on it I’m sure it would’ve done better numbers. I’m sure people were turned off by the difficult subject matter. But you must have some little worms in your brain that make you think “big number mean good album” or something cause your takes itt are wild asf

Y'all keep rambling on about all this "it's the best-selling hip-hop album of the year" s*** when it's not. It just had the biggest debut so far. Other albums are ahead of it in total sales for the year and that's why I said let's wait and see where it ends up by the end of the year since y'all are holding on to this "best-selling hip-hop album of the year" talk right now.

TPAB didn’t sell that much more the Mr. Morale first week. In fact, Mr. Morale sold more then GKMC and Section.80 first week. The only album Kendrick went astronomical on with the numbers was DAMN but that’s because he had Humble & bundles.

i don’t think drake’s even gonna cds for his albums anymore

i’m pretty sure scorpion had the lowest physical sales for his albums before CLB

his core audience is all streaming not vinyls or discs
