Post has 3 albums in Spotify's top 15 most streamed albums of all time though, those numbers should be standard

honestly if he doesn't do 250k then there's something wrong with his team. His singles are flopping badly & that itself is a sign his team needs help

there's no doubt the album will have insane longevity, maybe it's just his fanbase? maybe they're just casual as f*** compared to other artists? I dunno but it's weird as hell

His new album won't have longevity if it flops because all his older albums were sheltered by the numerous hit singles on them. Those are what carried the albums. If the new album doesn't have a hit singles on that level then there'll be nothing to carry the album to have the kind of longevity his past albums had.

85k? damn if he does 85k I'm gonna laugh so hard in this thread for a month straight. That'd be the biggest flop of all time

he HAS to outsell Gunna at the minimum, that's 150k, anything less is a flop. 150k-250k is my guess

I might be wrong but as far as I can tell, there's nothing to suggest that his new album will do numbers. Absolutely nothing.

I agree with the overall message but this is still a massive cope. After the success of uu, DAMN. and the Black Panther soundtrack, a lot of Kendrick fans had high commercial expectations for his next release (whenever that was gonna be) and rightfully so. He had seemingly broken into another level commercially and for the fans who always praised his acclaimed albums, that was another W to add to him.

The music industry has ALWAYS cared about numbers and they'll always care and fans have been caring about numbers now for decades. Only making this kind of video for Kendrick is wack because if it was Drake who did low numbers, he'd never make a video like this. Hell, he'd probably clown the numbers. He'd never even do this for an artist like Cole who is generally regarded as one who makes more conscious music than Drake.

These numbers can be seen as an L for Kendrick's standard without it meaning anything other than that. No one in their right mind thinks this album somehow spells the end for Kendrick commercially, neither does it mean he won't go on to still make incredible music in the future. We can isolate the performance of one album, call it for what it is, and move on from that. There will be more Kendrick albums in the future and more chances for him to prove himself. It's just very telling seeing all the people jumping to defend him and his numbers because it goes back to what I've always said: he's the most pampered rapper in the industry: by critics, by the media, by the fans, by everyone. Nothing he does can ever been seen as an L or a misstep and that's a very dangerous place to exist as a musician because it never lasts forever and when that heelturn comes, it's always nasty but I digress.

It is a BIG L for kendrick.

Never seen people so scared to admit an album is just average or ok.

Using every buzz word in the book to explain away the non replay ability or using whatever artistic vision nonsense to explain away people not feeling the music.

It's pathetic really because technically the album isn't BAD, it's just a clear stepdown from his past albums in terms of execution of ideas but you can't say that because to Kendrick stans, he can never miss lol.

I can see 125-175k realistically. Maybe 200k if the music hits well enough.

He took that little break and people got over him. I can't say I'm surprised tbh.

On some level, the music has also stopped connecting with people. It's more than just the label not promoting him as much. Even he doesn't seem excited about making music anymore.

Because he stopped making music and isn‘t really interested in making pop music at the first place

Thats why he put nothing out for nearly 3 years

He said in 2020 he wants to make rock music and the label clearly doesn‘t f*** with it. He probably just want to be out of his contract right now
