Let’s not forget we’re in that stage that every era of mainstream music finds itself in where the veterans start losing steam
The difference is back then that would be concurrent to a class of newer acts that provide the people with what they want. We’re kinda stuck with the veterans who lost their steam at the top rn, there isn’t a big new class dominating atm outside of a few acts
So nothing new, just the timing is different

You mean in rap? That's cause a couple of the biggest artists in the new gen died
Pop is in a very different state
Funniest s*** is when I really fw a Bad Bunny song like that I’ll translate the lyrics and more times than not he’s sayin some of the nastiest s*** I’ve ever seen
Latinas some freaks

I find it crazy still how well ds4 still selling meanwhile yawn fm already tanked
real definition of came and went
thats whats so wild tbh dude says explicit sexual s*** and everybody just loves it
I've heard from people that speak multiple languages that Spanish doesn't sound bad when talking dirty, while saying the same s*** in some other languages will be cringe/creepy/weird etc.
Was casual listeners really that invested in music besides big radio (and now streaming) hits tho?
I'm speaking more so about their albums than singles off those albums. It's unrealistic to expect every album to score a massive hit/massive hit but an album that doesn't have a massive hit can also perform really well over an extended period of time. Examples: Lil Baby's album and Morgan Wallen's album. Even CLB is a good example of that.
Examples?
Cause don't get that idea from most casual listeners at all. Before a lot of em didnt even care bout listening to whole albums

Yeah that Jack Harlow album is staying above water because of first Class. I wouldn’t be surprised if it contributed to over half the albums streams.
Like which? Only big flop is Weekend (posty will join soon) and then you have cases of smaller flops/underperformances like Kendrick .We have more overperformances than flops
As a Hispanic person who has seen bad bunny go from doing small clubs to now stadiums i can tell you only about 50%-70% of bad bunny listeners know Spanish
A lot of non Spanish speakers don't even know what he saying they just know the music is latin and it makes them want to dance
Sure but he was saying how he doesn’t understand his popularity and I was saying he doesn’t because he isn’t his target audience. That was the point of my post.
