This thread really proves that Kendrick has influenced or changed NOTHING in the culture

He still made great music tho cant argue against that

Lupe fiasco, Kanye west and common were on the conscious wave in the mainstream before Kendrick.

If we really keep it a buck it was lupe that made it cool to be a lyrical mainstream rapper with food and liquor

Don’t forget Andre 3000. Who Kendrick pretty much got a lot of his style from.

So we can agree Kendrick hasn’t influenced anybody?

I think cuz it’s barely coming out now, you say cuz he is not easy to copy

In the end we both come to the conclusion the influence ain’t there

Jid, Paak, and Keem are obvious ones. Which I think is what you're looking for.

He definitely influenced others in more subtle ways. From OGs to newcomers. Maybe not as far as sound but from his passion, concepts, end execution. Every collective looks up to TDE and how they do s***. Nipsey called them the new Death Row. It's just that the sound that's in right now doesn't allign with Kendricks outside of DAMN./BP. I don't think that denounces all his influence

    Kendrick is influential no denying

But when we say influential in the culture we talking about influencing new artists' entire style out the gate. As far as we know ain't no new artists get they style from Kendrick straight out the gate like some of em get they style from Wayne or Thug or Uzi or Gates etc.

Travis called him the best rapper as well. Wale said he’s top 5 lyricists all-time. List goes on. All of his peers respect him whether they’ve had problems or not.

That's crazy but I think most people can't tell influence unless it's just blatant ripoff
I don't think u can bite Kendrick's entire style because he literally changes his style on every song but I think for example Tierra Whack got her sound from The Art of Peer Pressure's intro and mixed it with other styles & her own style

exactly. Older niggas always say Lupe birthed all these backpack rappers. Wale, Cole, Kendrick, hell even early Drake.

Yep, it’s always easy to tell who is only into rap on a surface level or doesn’t know anything about rap history. Food and liquor changed the game, sales don’t matter for it because everyone who was black and into rap had that album. (And it still won a Grammy and is close to gold)

Hell, All you gotta do is look at that “rappers praising lupe fiasco” thread on OG KTT and see what the deal is and who really influenced a lot of these new niggas.
