Exactly. There is no reason to prop one up while tearing down the other. This is art, not a competition. This is all meant to connect with people on a larger scale (if the artist chooses to do so) and all involves elements that do so, even the one that is tailored to manipulate.

Like you said, music is a shield to all of us who deeply enjoy it on a level more than just listening as background noise. This can be literally any genre, especially hiphop which because of the way it’s made, possess more opportunities to get across a thought provoking verse.

Even “negative” music like you said, serves a purpose for us to get that feeling out of our body in a way, where we can just vibe and head nod or yell the lyrics and then that energy is gone and we move on (though it can be complicated and that’s where balancing the different frequencies comes into play, tho many people aren’t aware of that, the music still serves it purpose)

To call a genre low iq when there are millions of listeners like the users on this site who enjoy the genre on such a deeper, emotional level and it’s been one of the most ongoing conversation pieces the last 2-3 decades in entertainment on a deep level of lyrical a***ysis and the musics effect on society as a whole is just so f***ing stupid.
