This is why its weird to bring politics into music tho because he’s onstage dressed like Jesus saying “Godspeed to womens rights” meanwhile the artist with the most guest features on his album is a guy that pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a girl in high school

and he threw a fit when spotify said they were taking X & R kelly’s music off

Kendrick kind of a dumbass sometimes

Good thing he's not our savior

Just because he said that doesn’t mean it’s any less lame that he does all this

So should any rapper talk about politics or should they all just shut up and rap?

They've all collaborated with each other.

It's different when you did it in the past and when you're doing it for your current album lol. Imagine if he brought Kodak up to do his thing and then said this

So just because he associated himself with Kodak on a superficial basis that means he can’t speak out on women’s rights?

That’s like if I said you can’t speak out on women’s rights because you voted for Joe Biden in 2020. He was credibly accused of rape after all.

    I didn’t say they shouldn’t

It’s just more often than not it feels hypocritical for the reasons I mentioned.

Everyone is a hypocrite in that sense. You, me, the guy next door, everyone in this thread. We listen to an ignorant genre and enjoy it.

Everyone here should be listening to Kidz Bop or they might come off as "hypocritical" when talking about politics. See how that logic works out?

That's why I'm not defending Kendrick as a person, only pushing certain interpretations of his imagery.

I have mixed feelings about Kodak being on the album. He's gone Hebrew Israelite like Kendrick, so he's probably going the second chances route for that reason.

    I respect your option brother.

As I do yours. You're being ideologically consistent and that's good.

Again, we don't get a pass for enjoying an ignorant genre and criticizing Kendrick for collaborating with an ignorant rapper in an ignorant genre that we enjoy.

If you feel like Kendrick, or really any rapper shouldnt be talking politics then really we have no business talking politics either.

Kodak been Hebrew Israelite tho since before Kendrick even converted. Think they probably just linked up and Kendrick is taking what Kodak was charged with literally, which wasn’t rape but assault by biting

  • FREE

That's not at all what that user said

What does “this is why you should keep politics out of music” mean to you lol

And how does Kendrick being against taking down someone’s music because of their actions negate his opinions on how women should be treated? If you think that’s the case I assume you would be supportive of Spotify taking down David Bowie, Rolling Stones, Brand New, and Led Zeppelin music too right?
