Nov 24, 2024·1 replye tHe took artists who were adept at making albums with great pop hits (I.e. Taylor when executive produced by Max Martin) and instead gave them stripped back, minimalistic production to prioritize more of the songwriting aspect instead of the actual soundscape.
Like trying to turn pop artists into Bob Dylan. Some people enjoy it I guess, but to me it’s forced and boring and I just want the pop hits back personally.
I see. I was never sure because of his work on Melodrama and some of the St. Vincent albums which are pretty layered

We all know how to add our own files to streaming if we really like it. So I dont mind it. If I was an artist I would also be conscious of not wanting to clutter the singles section of my profile on streaming so i get it

Melodrama is one of the exceptions for sure. But that was 7 years ago atp and he has moved in the wrong direction since.
