I’ve had Lupe over Kendrick with storytelling for a long time but I’m putting them on the same level atp. They’re both at a level of creativity with it other rappers almost never achieve. They the only 2 that manage to make career highlight story based songs every album

I also love Boldy but I’m not sure he’s a better lyricist than Kendrick. It’s always tough comparing Kendrick with guys like that because they make different kind of songs. Even when Boldy taps into his story telling (like Illegal Search & Seizure) it’s not even close to Kendrick or Lupe’s

I’ve honestly grown out of caring about crazy rhyme schemes. I’ll always appreciate a good one here and there and Dooms in my top 10 but stories and clever wordplay always gonna be more impressive imo

It’s why I got Push in my top 5. Dude literally never wastes a single bar lol

Love Keem and it's definitely the tone, because the songs are great. luther is probably my favorite Kendrick hook and the song is so amazing, I just don't like the tone of the verse

It’s also a convenient cop out for chronically nerdy niggas who think they’re above popularity or universal appeal. Cause when you demote the importance of vocals you take charisma out the equation all together, so the criteria is just nerdy s***

I'd prefer more effort in the singing, like Cole gives. Kendrick gets more animated in his actual raps but Cole definitely gives a greater effort while singing
