GNX got more replay value to me than Section80 and this is coming from someone who f***ed with that project heavy when it dropped
Poe Man's dream still clears till this day

yea regardless how much i love MM its clear there was a disconnect at least musically w some fans.
It's top 3 for me but I'm not mad at the opinions of folks who really didn't like the album

Ya'll got to be thankful for MM&TBS, without it we wouldn't have gotten GNX
Same reason we wouldn't have gotten Blue Lips had not been for the poor reception of Crash Talk

lol i am thankful for the album bro i just said it had some of my fav kendrick bars and sound.
I just been noticed the disconnect w SOME fans not connecting with it since it dropped while others did a 180 this year after/ during the beef an reflecting on the album

Ngl I wasn't blown away by the album on my first initial listen but repeated listens is where I finally was able to see the vision he was going for. But to me, sonically, it ranks all the way at the bottom of his discography

Apples and oranges
Sxn 80 is more for like, nas fans
Mellow smooth and introspective for most part
Gnx is like 80% up tempo bangers
Poe Man's dream still clears till this day

real af, used that mf in a paper for my AA history class in college

Those are big words
But I agree
Poe Man's dream still clears till this day

That s*** is dope but I genuinely feel like Section80 is part of the reason why people label Kendrick with the backpack s***

Which that is what therapy is, detaching from the demand from others to be more in tune with the self. This album was about personal struggles and the awareness of breaking cycles
Phenomenal messaging, musically it just veered too safe to me when the songs I listed played. Even without those songs I still rate MMBS pretty high. This might be more controversial but I like it better than GKMC

you right but some of S80 stuff hasn't fully aged well for me

I get caught up in a similar thought process, sometimes with an artist I love I can see their growth in each project and as I grow sometimes I grow past those songs of old in that artist discography
Those songs are still cemented somewhere but I rather bask in the artist's present day if it so aligns more with where I am
As crazy as it sounds but I think Dot had an ascension in talent and output on par with Big Sean

Ill be damned if this ain't the truth
hell sometimes it happens even just from overplaying those old songs/albums too much in the past as well

exactly. Section80 is an interesting look into the time period cuz it was made during that Obama era type s***. Like you know what I mean? Lol there was a certain style of music back in 2011

I just be happy my favorite artists find a way to use their talents, like Budden transitioning to podding. I was never his biggest fan but I always thought he was hella interesting to observe

You were bumping budden?
I thought his music was ear cancer but his antics had me hooked lmao

2011 was crazy especially if you were out West. Pushaz Ink, Tyga, Audio Push, Game, TDE, OF, Jason Derulo, B.O.B, and Hayley f***ing Williams dominated from the car to the house parties

All my brothers from Jersey, I wasn't personally itching to hear him but I absolutely heard his talent with words and gaslighting
This my favorite song from a Budden project and I got the Soulo solo

Bro came out the gate swangin with that hiipower s*** lol
It would've been considerably better for me without Purple Hearts, Die Hard, We Cry Together, Count Me Out, Auntie Diaries, and Mother I Sober
Just Purple Hearts
Bro came out the gate swangin with that hiipower s*** lol
Songs like Ignorance Is Bliss was also shaping that narrative beforehand but I had always seen him as that since I was finding bro on DubCNN
