I dont see how more songs = more sales, thats takes more of a persons time
There’s more songs to choose from, more variety, more tracks to return to.
Especially when you’re an artist like Drake who has numerous sections of his fanbase.
Some fans gravitate towards the rap songs, some towards the R&B songs, some towards the track with Bad Bunny, some towards the song with Yeat, etc.
It’s much harder to have your album streamed repeatedly when it’s shorter. Kendrick is literally making history with this project.
Go look at the Top 20 highest streamed first weeks ever. It’s not a coincidence that they are all 20+ track albums, with the one exception being Her Loss.
Again, Drake being the exception shouldn’t be a shock. Overall, he’s the biggest rapper ever. Nobody has ever claimed that he isn’t. He’s just not the biggest rapper right now.

bro have you never pressed play on an album and let it ride?
UMG panicking right now this is basically enough to prove they boosted that bullshit
MUSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

But what if one album is just more popular than the other
It's still an upwards battle. And once u get to the most popular artists there's a point of diminishing returns anyway.
These days that first playthrough everybody will play the full album guaranteed. So that 23-24 track album is gonna double that 12 track album off rip. After that people will play their favorites or add them to playlists but that longer album will still have more tracks to choose from
But what if one album is just more popular than the other
Usually those first day streams with more tracks outnumber even if the album is more popular…
Just look at the FATD vs GNX comparison
GNX (12 tracks) vs. FATD (23 tracks)
1st Day (partial day) - 44M Vs. 108M
2nd Day - 75M Vs. 75M
3rd Day - 52M Vs. 48M
4th Day - 56M Vs. 51M
5th Day - 49M Vs. 46M
6th Day - 46M Vs. 39M
23 tracks and first day hype is all the difference you need to outsell by a good margin
@BAMSKI_backshots you wanted me to tag you when the numbers were updated right?
Im not even talking about the numbers. They were disappointing but decent. The album is a came and went type of s*** though. Couple good songs. It was a dud for Kendrick standards
cmon Bofa I know you don’t feel this way

Using numbers is dumb to compare really though. Anyone can listen to fatd and hear its pure audio dookie
I have nightmares about that 'shot him in daylight' song or whatever still to this day
And that 21 savage feature
cmon Bofa I know you don’t feel this way
Genuinely. Gave my thoughts in the album thread
THE 180 FROM DRAKE STANS LMFAOOOO 😭😭😭
https://twitter.com/aubreysattorney/status/1862253502229356628“Kendrick must be stopped!!”

Not based off the numbers I’ve seen. Tyler had a bigger first day but less by day 4.
On Spotify Tyler had more streams after day 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6…
I dont see how more songs = more sales, thats takes more of a persons time
To an extent yeah, but the for fw sales the hardcore fans will listen to all of it no matter what so it is slightly important . Labels know that too thats why culture 2 was so bloated
Drake 12 track surprise album would sell 5000k
honestly nevermind was basically that
I dont see how more songs = more sales, thats takes more of a persons time
You’re the only person in here that gets it
You don’t have to see anything. You can just look at the direct correlation between more songs and more streams that exists
Prove the correlation
@BAMSKI_backshots you wanted me to tag you when the numbers were updated right?
Please do
Prove the correlation
I’ll just have Billboard do it for me instead
billboard.com/pro/longer-albums-in-the-streaming-age
This is common knowledge btw, like asking me to prove that the sky is blue
