Prove the correlation
If 100,000 people fully listen to two albums, and one of the albums has 10 tracks and the other has 20 tracks, then the 20 track album is going to have double the streams. It's as simple as that.
And you don't need to finish every song for it to count as a stream. So for two artists with large audiences who will stream the full album, it absolutely matters in the first week (especially the first day).
It’s hitting them EXTRA hard during the holidays

All they gotta do is face reality and they get to come enjoy the winning side

Idk why anyone even needs this explained
It’s common sense
I’ll just have Billboard do it for me instead

This is common knowledge btw, like asking me to prove that the sky is blue
I fundamentally disagree with that article. They assume that the streams from songs left of the track list would just disappear completely, which I think is ridiculous and misses the mark of how music is consumed. My belief is that the majority of the streams from those hypothetical songs just get redistributed to the other tracks on the album. Which is supported by albums with shorter track lists having a much higher streams-per-track average.
I will say that more tracks does equal more streams just objectively. But I believe it’s wildly overestimated just how much.
Why isn’t he updating op? it’s not 291k anymore
call the f***ing feds breh
FATD was farming with Sexyy Redd, SZA, Yeat, and Cole features and will MAYBE match the streams of an album half its size

How often do people put on an album, listen all the way through, then stop listening to music once it’s over. Cause I don’t believe that’s any normal person’s relationship with music in 2024. Maybe the first listen after the album releases and that’s it.

bro this nigga is arguing with basic division and multiplication

This is like you saying FG% remaining constant with increased shot volume is basic math when we know it doesn’t work like that

If GNX had 24 tracks instead of 12 do y’all believe you would’ve spent twice as much time listening to the album this week?

I think albums from a huge impactful artist like Drake and Kendrick will get a lot of people who will listen to it in full. Obviously once you listen to it in full, you will pick your favorite songs and listen to them, or just skip the ones you don't like. But if we are talking the first bunch of days of streaming, then yeah, the amount of songs on the album matters.

No but it wouldn’t have gotten 44 million streams first day, It would’ve got 80-90 million
It basically doubles your first day streams
Edit: and actually yeah if the album was good and twice as long then it would’ve doubled the streams
3 threads about Kendrick sales at the top of music sxn when we have a sales thread...
Kendrick Stan's are destroying music discussion I think....

You explained it perfectly. No need to even keep going back and forth.
Niggas that actually enjoy music listen to albums all the way through on first listen. If the exact same amount of people listen to a 12 track album and a 23 track album all the way through, the 23 track album has a lot more streams.
They’re either dense or just coping.
