Here are some things to keep in mind that should ease the wait and know Kendrick is about to do some interesting, creative and worthwhile s***.

    1. Kendrick isn’t an avid reader but he has started reading more it seems.

    • he told charlamagne that he doesn’t read a lot he just speaks to people. That might’ve changed in the sense where he started doing more reading.
    • @coat had a post about him congratulating some author for some book that he is finished reading.
    • also we know he has been atleast listening/reading Eckhard Tolle

    2. He not only hasn’t released music but he hasn’t allowed any one to release features. There was speculation that he was on Roddy and that was the song that didnt come out. My guess is that Kendrick is strategically doing this because he wants the first time we hear him again to be on his terms.

    3. It’s kendrick mehn. The dude that gave us GKmC, DAMN. And TPAB has time to create music. He is a new dad and just lived through the same 2020 that we all did. Whenever we get what he gives us, it will be next level. He doesn’t have to perform or get ready for a tour. His sole focus and his friends who help him make these grandiose projects are all free and have time to create.

Whenever we get the album, everything from the cover art to the concept to the feature to the title will be next level.

    Real.

I have a feeling Kendrick is gonna give us another musical masterpiece on the level of TPAB, I can feel it.

The lack of quality music since DAMN. dropped has made this wait even harder. There have been some cool albums since then, but very few on that level.

What rap albums you think been on that level? Or albums period

I see Kendrick the way I see Prince, Stevie, and Bowie. man is an icon. generations after going to be sampling and referencing his music.

You know why Kenny so tapped in, talent and gods gift aside. He spends majority of his time listening to these artist, when you listen to a high volume of cats like Stevie, bowie, prince, Jimmy, etc. that s*** naturally seeps into your music. Creativity weird the way it works but what you consume yourself with you become. And he’s great at channeling those spirits into rap form.

Wait he contradicted himself on that reading s*** then if he said that, cus I specifically remember him saying years ago that reading the Malcolm x book helped shift how he communicates in his music.

Unless he means he isn’t a frequent reader but still kinda contradictory to shoutout a book for helping your music years back

Well I think the specific question from Cthagod was “do you read a lot? “ and he was like no. So I guess that kinda falls in line with him stil reading once in a while.

Okay got you. I thought he meant on some KanYe s*** where he says he doesn’t read s*** ever lmaoooo

So you thinking him becoming more of a reader is expanding his creativity?

Frank does the same thing. Kanye did. It’s weird the greatest rap albums usually stems from niggas listening to s*** other than rap. Yeah they’ll listen to classic rap s***. But id say when in album mode it’s 90% other genres 10% classic rap that still influences

it’s pretty spiritual and the way the dude says some stuff can be real confusing or heady but the overall messages and a lot of the things he says are really helpful and eye opening. def recommend

  • Oct 11, 2020

I agree w everyone on him leaning into the spiritual, especially with the Tolle stuff and him emphasizing transcendental meditation. I also think the MJ song might be an indicator of where he’s going next. Almost every kendrick album is from his perspective narratively or someone in his life the entire time. That’s the first song since pre-GKMC i can recall him writing from the perspective of a completely different thing or person. I wonder if all the themes of ego loss and disconnecting and all will run back into this. “Too many opinions in the glass house this world full of egos let me cash out”

I think with rap it’s classics like DJ Quik, Snoop, Dre, Pac, Kurrupt, Wayne, Em, Jay, Outkast

And then alotta prince, Stevie, Jimmy, Coltrane, Marvin, MJ, etc.

    Frank oceans blonde inspired Yah.

Matter fact we need a thread of where we showcase each Kenny album tracks and who their sister song is

They say songs stem from someone else’s song like a sibling. For example we know what song of Kendrick’s was inspired by this:
