Maybe I’m late, but have y’all seen this?

ā€œReddit user u/stopcappin claimed two months before "Like That" dropped that Kendrick sent Metro a 3 minute verse taking direct shots at Drake. The final version of the song only had about a minute for Kendrick's feature. The user claimed that the verse was cut down because Future thought it was ā€˜too disrespectful.ā€™ā€

Then I went to his page and he definitely said it way before Like That came out.

He also said Future and Drake fell out because Drake was talking s*** about him to a woman and it got back to him. A 3 minute verse on Like That would’ve been crazy.

Saw this at the time. Pretty sure it was a game of telephone with the 3 min verse stuff. Doubt it was ever that long, Like That verse as it is is perfectly paced.

Don’t think we’ll be getting the album this month tbh.

Next week is Em, week after is Bino’s last record, maybe the 26th? That is if actually is coming this month.

Still praying for a D’Angelo x Kendrick collab so bad, on some Black Messiah/ TPAB on steroids type shii

TPAB would’ve been the perfect album for that collab to happen fr

He doesn't tie it together enough on the album to show it's deliberate imo. Went from blaming his cheating on racism to throwing out the idea that the sexual abuse his mother went through and black people being sexually abused during slavery could be potential reasons. Other than a few lines on Crown, he also doesn't own up to the role he played in people having the Messiah perception of him they do

It's like he believes he's shed his ego and come clean by making this album but there's still a bit of pride in him and he's still making excuses. Jay did a far better job on 4:44. Niggas always want to heat up when I say this but hell, Denzel Curry did a better job with these concepts on Melt My Eyez imo

Also don't really care to listen to a lot of the songs on it. Like deadass half the songs are skips for me. Which is insane for a Kendrick album. Typed out a ranking earlier but didn't post it - MM&TBS was right at the bottom

I think the album is more cohesive and connected than you give it credit for

Disc 1 is called Big Steppers. Throughout disc 1 Kendrick is addressing his flaws and toxic tendencies, but he isn’t really doing anything to fix his tendencies. He says ā€œreal niggas don’t need no therapy.ā€
He’s tap dancing and ā€œsteppingā€ around his problems instead of working on them.

And near the end of disc 1, Whitney says ā€œStop tap dancing around the conversationā€

Then on the first track of disc 2, we hear ā€œsession 10, breakthroughā€ā€¦and Kendrick finally goes to therapy.
Then throughout disc 2 Kendrick actually starts addressing his flaws and comes to the conclusion that he needs to just focus on working on himself instead of trying to be a savior. He also makes the connection that generational trauma had a bigger impact on him than he realized

The album is to show us that Kendrick is just as flawed and f***ed up as everyone else

I think Not Like Us is their main focus right now

Next things dropping will probably be the Remix and then the new song that he previewed

Appreciate the dialogue we can have about his music in here. Didn't even really want to post that because I've posted it before and had to go back and forth. But everyone been willing to just let me have my opinion or show me what I might be missing

Btw was it ever revealed what the "Mr Morale" part of the title refers to?

Could be a nickname to his savior complex, or a reference to his morale being low due to trauma and how he tried to cover it up
