The problem, though, is that in 2022 we understand that the F slur is offensive. Auntie Diaries came out in 2022. YES, I UNDERSTAND it’s a story about an old mindset that he had. However, that doesn’t mean he had to say the word 12 times in a song released in 2022.
If this song came out in like 2008 then sure, during that time and era the word was used ignorantly and openly, so it can be understood. There’s no reason why he had to use the word in today’s world after almost a decade of knowing that it’s offensive.
He could’ve gotten the same exact message across without using the word whatsoever.
I understand what you’re staying but I guess the disconnect I have is we all understand that human history is ugly and yes although the word is clearly not acceptable in today’s society, I don’t understand why we accept the raw candidness of gang violence, d*** abuse, neglect, etc but draw the line here. It’s just my opinion and I’m not saying I’m right but I personally don’t think he used it in bad taste or tried to pull a fast one he wanted to add real life context of growth and understanding
This whole song was so obviously designed and presented to purposefully provoke a certain section of people online. No coincidence that the idea of cancel culture is a big theme on the overall album.
Agree fam that’s why I enjoy it so much tbh it’s a powerful album
sheesh this tour is getting 0000000000000 buzz.
crazy cause the DAMN tour was the hottest tour of 2017
Ktt wants the crowd to be a Carti concert where middle school white boys are slinging poop at each other
Sometimes there can be performance art involved
bro called this mid “performance art”
you probably ride d*** so good
You wanna take a ride

We accept the rawness of those subjects because you don’t have to use any words that offend a large demographic of people to express those topics. Kendrick could’ve easily made Auntie Diaries without using the slur at all and still would’ve gotten his point across the same way. The slur being on the song 12 times is clearly just for shock value and provocation and that’s why it’s cheap to me.

I think that’s a fair take

Is it clearly just for shock value? We assume a lot when it comes to these artists

The hiphop conundrum
Look at everyone just standing there, terrified at this bizarre ass moment/music
Kendr297k concerts look like an absolute blast to attend
imagine singing along to this, what the god damn hell was he thinking

thought you needed this motivation brother
Nobody in that crowd has learned anything from the song, cause I know they still sayin the n word too
This sites turn on Kendrick continues to amaze me lol
It became DrakeToThe when Kanye put on the hat in 2018 which resulted in poor taste in music being the majority opinion on here
Is it clearly just for shock value? We assume a lot when it comes to these artists
Whenever other artists have used slurs in the past (Eminem, Tyler) it’s been labeled as shock value so I don’t understand why for Kendrick it’s some beautiful elaborate messaging.
Yes I understand this is a more meaningful song than some other examples of rappers using slurs in their lyrics, but Auntie Diaries could’ve existed without the use of the slur at all and still have gotten the same exact message and intent across. That’s why the use of the slur screams shock value to me, because it was unnecessary
Kendrick saying the f-word on the song didn't make sense to me but people said it was done to show his growth. Alright, I see what you mean.
But performing it live and giving the crowd the opportunity to scream that word while singing along is a disgusting decision by Kendrick
Mans paid $500 tickets for the “moshpit” just to calmly stand there while kendrick stands on a box and screams slurs at them in the alien voice

It’s hilarious that the end of the song ends with him realizing he shouldn’t say the F slur anymore because he’s not okay with a white girl standing on stage saying nigga in a song, and then on tour he’s on stage openly saying the F slur in a song
