Media literacy in the toilet but I can’t even say it’s bad media literacy to not really understand this song
I get what he was trying to do but it’s not his best execution and he leaves a lot of grey area for the listener to think about themselves
It's pretty obvious what he's doing with the song lol it's the same theme as the other tracks. Execution could have been better for sure
Yea
If you do anything more than just vibes and b****es you’re trying too hard
Drake stans don't like to think too hard should just let them be tbh
I choose Peace I’m sorry
Wym not like this
Don't let the beef end like that lol (matrix reference)
Let's take Mr. Morgan and them steppers for example
Die Hard, People Hearts, Father Time, Auntie Diaries, Mother, I Sober
All those songs either suffer from a deep topic, getting spoken about in a surface level manner for the listener to understand more. As opposed to a TPAB where the music was the music, and the messaging was directed at the community that the music reflected.
Imo you can't go from "Hello, crackers" to making the music where the sonics are intentionally palatable to them
I agree that TPAB is definitely more subtle with some of the messages on their compared to Mr morale but I don't understand why that's critic bait, it just means he didn't execute it as well. TPAB is more critically acclaimed that Mr Morale.
I guess having a “concept” makes something critic bait?
I never understood the Kendrick is critic bait angle
If I can’t play it around the hoes, it’s for white people
This s*** sad man . Don’t harass his wife then be like “ she turned off comments “ well no s***

Anyone who doesn’t see that his output is intentionally geared towards critic and Grammy validation is just being intentionally obtuse
Bunch is straight cis men talking about media literacy in the toilet from a 7 day critic when this is straight up what trans people think about that dumbass song but I forgot half yall don’t even see trans people as people so Kendrick can speak on them however he likes I guess keep on d***riding
Are you trans? What separates you from the rest of these opinions because I'd argue you gotta be trans to critique this and opinions FROM Trans people was fairly divided on this, people that are actually impacted by all this

“don’t even see trans people as people” nice gargantuan reach
This s*** sad man . Don’t harass his wife then be like “ she turned off comments “ well no s***
Drake stans are disgusting man, it's beyond just rivalry, niggas act like the man knows them
you just tried to talk to me like you’re tough
i’d spit in your mouth and make you my b****, please stop it man
Nah you wouldn’t do anything cause it’s the internet
I called you a hoe so call me a hoe back or I dunno respond to what I quoted you on you obviously wanted attention so what makes me media illiterate?
But sure man you’re just gonna go back to posting on KTT your not gonna do anything to me so chill
Anyone who doesn’t see that his output is intentionally geared towards critic and Grammy validation is just being intentionally obtuse
So tell us how it is geared towards those things
So when the subject matter isn't genuine and seems forced and theres an agenda that doesn't really align with their message? yeah that makes sense to me. Kendrick talks about his life and his experiences so I don't really understand why people call him critic bait either.
Yeah. Like some other people said, I sometimes worry that people claim Kendrick is critic bait because of his subject matter inherently, which would be rough, because it has some negative implications about what rap is “allowed” to be about, without being critic bait.
But I try to be optimistic, so I’ll assume the best and that that isn’t what’s going on
After S80 & GKMC
I can’t blame someone for believing Kendrick discography is hard to get through
Not cause the musics bad, it just gets more dense from there
That's why N95 is not listed
Personal perspective or not, I still see those songs I listed as either virtue signaling songs or album sellers and could've been replaced. A lot of the messaging in these songs I was able to compartmentalize when I was 8 and the soundscape isn't interesting enough on these songs to justify for me
My fault I confused n95 with savior for your hello crackers comment lol
But how would u take songs like Father Time and mother I sober as virtue signaling. How can u do that when speaking about your own life experiences.
Drake stans don't like to think too hard should just let them be tbh
Not even a Drake fan thing
Just the average music listener in general doesn’t want to think at all when they listen to music
This s*** sad man . Don’t harass his wife then be like “ she turned off comments “ well no s***
Living vicariously through celebrities and inserting yourself into stuff that has nothing to do with like harassing people gotta be some of the most pathetic s*** you can do. Miserable people.
Drake is radio bait by that logic
Background music bait
Drunk music bait
Even critics are difficult to please because they rush to judge something rather than truly sit with it especially in content age they want to be first to react . Instant gratification. Some deeper things later but shocking moments or lines that turn into tabloid articles which garner website revenue
You don’t have to make socially concisous political music to say more or connect or relate to an audience . There is only so much anyone can hear of highly poitical or I’m so rich I f*** all the b****es I own all the nice clothes my life is perfect
Both serve their purpose but both Kendrick and Drake subject matter wise have exhausted at least to their given limits and weaknesses their given topics
nigga tryna call people transphobic because niggas saying you didn’t understand the song
half of y’all single out Auntie Diaries and constantly quote it out of 15+ songs on the album to make fun of it, but yeah, it’s everyone else that’s transphobic
I agree that TPAB is definitely more subtle with some of the messages on their compared to Mr morale but I don't understand why that's critic bait, it just means he didn't execute it as well. TPAB is more critically acclaimed that Mr Morale.
Regardless of what Kendrick does it's gonna be considered critic bait because of how the media treats him. I don't see anyone telling Kendrick to go deeper into his songs
And he sounds a little too Eminem-y at times, so I think that helps him a lot. Whether it be actual pandering or him creating what he believes to be a bop. A lot of his bop records for me have a vocal performance that I generally don't want to hear

They not beating the loser allegations
Are you trans? What separates you from the rest of these opinions because I'd argue you gotta be trans to critique this and opinions FROM Trans people was fairly divided on this, people that are actually impacted by all this
I’m not trans but does that make my critique of the song illegitimate if it’s basic understanding that people don’t like to be misgendered?
What was the point of the part at the end? Who even calls women who turn into men the f word?
