For real, the progress Kendrick made over the course of the album, both mentally and sonically, was really cool and inspiring.
It was like seeing him grow and shift and change and do all these uncomfortable things right in front of you, inspiring you to try to do the same to get to that better place.
    I love this album

man I appreciate you man, one of the best things about it he didn't half ass it, I always felt like he half assed the black panther lp but you can tell every thing is intentional, even the off-putting stuff

Living vicariously through celebrities and inserting yourself into stuff that has nothing to do with like harassing people gotta be some of the most pathetic s*** you can do. Miserable people.

Doing it with a straight face or no self awareness

Again if this s*** happened to Sophie which if likely did in some form that s*** foul too . Before they say it’s all fair in rap beef . Harassing non women rappers shouldn’t be something to aspire too . It’s something that would make someone not want to respond or entertain because then it’s less competitive sport and more my loved ones safety

My fault I confused n95 with savior for your hello crackers comment lol

But how would u take songs like Father Time and mother I sober as virtue signaling. How can u do that when speaking about your own life experiences.

Because I thought those songs could've been produced better and more intently. Those 2 sound like a Macklemore type song to me

I agree that TPAB is definitely more subtle with some of the messages on their compared to Mr morale but I don't understand why that's critic bait, it just means he didn't execute it as well. TPAB is more critically acclaimed that Mr Morale.

    TPAB is critic bait too.

I cant speak to whether it is intentional or not. But that's definitely how I perceive the end product.

And if you look at how they responded to it (which is obviously a generalization), it seems like it was tee'd up perfectly for them.

He's kind of positioned himself as the "good, magical negro" which even he seems to have realized with his latest work.

Not even a Drake fan thing

Just the average music listener in general doesn’t want to think at all when they listen to music

I mean the correlation to drake stans and average music listener is pretty high. Just surface level music

nigga tryna call people transphobic because niggas saying you didn’t understand the song

half of y’all single out Auntie Diaries and constantly quote it out of 15+ songs on the album to make fun of it, but yeah, it’s everyone else that’s transphobic

I understood the song full well and it’s dumb ass f*** guess that’s the part you’re missing, doing a lot of talking but no explaining

but keep going on man I can tell you get off on this internet s***

It's pretty obvious what he's doing with the song lol it's the same theme as the other tracks. Execution could have been better for sure

To be honest one thing that throws me off since you bring up the other tracks

It really seems like the end of Auntie Diaries is full on savior complex Kendrick. The whole “imagining himself standing up to a pastor in a church and making a speech in defense of trans people” it just comes off like he thinks he’s saving the world and solving this issue

And it just devolves into a debate about saying the F Word as if there’s not other things around this that need more conversation

I think Kendrick bit off more than he could chew tbh but I guess I’m not mad at it, it still adds to the humanity of the album but I honestly don’t know what the f*** he was actually trying to say

Section 80 is a "conscious album" so is GKMC , is that also Critic Bait? Is critic bait just deeper subject matter to you?

you just said what sort of person calls a woman that transitions to a dude the f word, when he literally used that word to illustrate a portion of his childhood when he didn’t know any better + drew a parallel to his hypocrisy at his anger at a white lady rapping nigga on the stage with him, but didn’t understand the harm behind flag

    you’re a low tier troll

He's really like the nigga who reads a headline and then positions himself as an expert.

Its that problem that arises when someone is a genius at something. He's great at putting words together. It doesn't make him a competent intellectual.

He still thinks black on black crime is at the center of why black people are struggling in America.

    After S80 & GKMC

I can’t blame someone for believing Kendrick discography is hard to get through

Not cause the musics bad, it just gets more dense from there

    This.
Dense music isn’t inherently better or worse, it just appeals in different ways and to different people.
I personally love hearing a song/album that, for example, purposely has a ton of contradictions on it to embody the contradicting nature of the human experience and innate hypocrisy in us all.
That being said though, I will never blame anyone for preferring to just put on the latest dance record or something. Partially because I also like that, but also because it’s just as valid and “high” as art imo. Helping someone groove and feel less alone is just as valid a reason to create art as exploring the depths of human nature and how it functions in modernity.
