Honestly how does a nigga create something with yt critics in mind, how is not that hateful and insecure man, like imagine you being really invested in this s*** and some nigga who sees 2pac in drake talmbout you did it for pitchfork
! Like really, are you still arguing from a genuine point or are you a bitter drake stans who won't see different
Im just telling you what I genuinely think. You dont have to like it.
I read what yall think and dont get mad.
I can't believe how hard kenfolk genuinely hate drake 😂 like Kenny was never my fav but I never genuinely hated him, honestly even respected him tremendously.. meanwhile yall wake up literally fuming at drakes existence. Who's really stanning?

Some of them won't even have earnest discourse, they default to "they can't understand complex music"
1. everything is political (at least thats what they tell me).
As a black man, I see your point. For us, we can digest his work differently. But the way in which white people have fetishized the kind of music Kendrick makes (just imo) says some interesting things about how they receive it.
2. I think this convo about artists like Sexyy are interesting. Bc blaxploitation, originally, was a medium for black people to represent their strength and power through story. And for me, artists like her do a lot to spread joy.
You can talk about the identity and respectability politics of it all. But I think its ignorant for a lot of people (especially black ppl) to dismiss her and artists like her. Alot of "using the white man's tools" type s***.
You think white people fetishize Kendrick but don’t drake someone who they feel they can closer relate to because half white? Thus when they go from poor to rich they too feel like one of the niggas . When it’s really just a white man with a fade and faded beard
You own the positivity section yet you’re the biggest ASS I’ve ever dealt with! BBL sized ass.
I didn't do all those squats for nothing

We weren't talking about Drake. But we can if you would like to.
Right now it sounds like you just kinda s***ting on him for being half white tho lol.
If it was therapeutic for the artist to make and no one put a gun to my head to buy it or listen I’m glad they made it
Their album connecting with me is irrelevant the world doesn’t revolve around me or you
I feel same about hnvm which I enjoyed but I could see some calling it trash
Oh, agreed. But that goes for all kinds of art. Ultimately, so long as the artist/creator made what THEY wanted to make, that's a win. The only difference is that in Kendrick's case, he made his music and is selling it as a product to fans in the hope that they get as much out of it as he did and while I have no doubt that some people genuinely enjoyed the album, I think it's fair to say that it didn't land for most people (AND THAT'S OKAY). It's like his first miss. It's allowed. Doesn't take away from his legacy or his discography imo. I think some Kendrick fans defend the album so much because they want to be able to hold on to the "Kendrick has zero misses" argument.

Because they hate that regardless of what Kendrick does, he'll never be the #1 guy in this rap s***.
