He has none, of course
Oh I’m sorry I missed where the f*** I mentioned you pal!
1. everything is political (at least thats what they tell me).
As a black man, I see your point. For us, we can digest his work differently. But the way in which white people have fetishized the kind of music Kendrick makes (just imo) says some interesting things about how they receive it.
2. I think this convo about artists like Sexyy are interesting. Bc blaxploitation, originally, was a medium for black people to represent their strength and power through story. And for me, artists like her do a lot to spread joy.
You can talk about the identity and respectability politics of it all. But I think its ignorant for a lot of people (especially black ppl) to dismiss her and artists like her. Alot of "using the white man's tools" type s***.
I'd describe it as bittersweet, the genre was fun and somewhat empowering in aspects, black people could share an experience and connect through common tropes and cultural experiences but theres also a lot of negative stereotypes that were portrayed on the big screen.
Why is the music Kendrick Lamar makes fetishized by white people but Sexyy Reds isn't? admittedly I like a lot of her songs but I am aware of how some of it is almost a parody at times.
Drinking one of these right now to cure the pain
The only thing that gonna cure is your body of its internal organs lmaooo bless up tho
Oh I’m sorry I missed where the f*** I mentioned you pal!
Yeah man I'm blocking you. Unnecessarily mean post
your name is “Free Youngboy NBA” and you cant understand his point about Sexxy Redd?
You’re saying YB and Sexyy red are similar artists?
Gonna start dead money today I think
I'm tryna kill all the powder gangers at correctional facility solo at level 3 lolll
What do y'all think the theme of Kendrick's next album will be?
Personally, I hope he makes a DAMN. part 2. I need some slappers from him. At least 5-6 on the next album.
That is a boring and expected take from you
You’re saying YB and Sexyy red are similar artists?

This is the media literacy @edumist was talking about. You chose to ignore a crucial point of the song because you got lost in trying to paint it as savior s***.
And he doesn't have to say he chose his happiness it's implied by choosing his loved ones over religion.
That line isn’t even a crucial point of the song you’re making it one and adding extra interpretations to it that I don’t personally share. Don’t even think about getting on me about media literacy, I’m the only one on here who picked up the subliminals before the diss tracks and was clowned as reaching for it
I don’t think his own happiness is implied there whatsoever. He is thinking about his cousin and being more selfless in that moment, to my interpretation. It makes sense that you’re attempting to make a connection to relate the song to the rest of the album but I personally don’t think that specific connection is there.

I’m sorry dude I’m just a disgruntled Kendrick fan waiting for him to drop
Do you still like the future collab album
Of course. It feels more like a Future project featuring Drake but it's definitely a strong project. One of the better collab projects of the 2010s for sure. Future performed better overall on the project but I think for the fact that the sound of that project was mostly leaning into Future's lane, Drake held his own really well. Don't know why he doesn't get more credit for that but whatever.

You deserve better.
What do y'all think the theme of Kendrick's next album will be?

hope theres more songs where it sounds like he's just having fun like range rovers or hilbillies
No he didnt reduce it to that. Its about understanding and compassion but w/e
I just think the F word thing is so obvious
It would’ve been more interesting to talk about misgendering rather than slurs
Do you think mr morale falls under a 7/7.5 objectively?
I’m mega biased because I’ve been obsessed with it since it dropped but even taking into account people who weren’t as taken by it musically or topically, I’d be interested to see if a consensus puts it below that score
I f*** with like 5/6 records out of the 19 songs on there so I'm probably not the one to ask that lol. I'd give it a 4.5-5/10.
Shout out this sections MVP in every thread he enters @KodakSpice
thanks bro
