The 10s is post prime washed Ye

I’m not saying he never did good
stuff after, but WTT and Yeezus were definitely the last moments he was actually “a part of the game” and not an OG who comes around every few years with some decent music

He's only really taken a 'break' from 2013-16, even then he was constantly making music in those years and even performing in festivals and s***.
He even has more albums than Kendrick and Cole in that decade lmao.
I think Jay-Z fits that category actually, rather than Ye.

  • It's funny how people outside Canada are like oh let's check out the Drake album, pretty good, love the memes etc, when we will never know how many people he's killed, how many lives he's destroyed with his iron grip on Toronto's underworld, how many people he's silenced.

Yes those were his last classics and the last moment of him being “prime Ye” and leading the culture,

After that and especially from Yeezus on, he settled into the “OG” role. Started a family and was taking very long breaks between albums too.

It’s really the break Ye took from 2013-2016 which was the time period that the 3 cemented themselves. He wasn’t active during that time and they took the torch.

His 10s output is pretty hit or miss but really it’s not about quality it’s about his age, presence and no one can lead forever

idk I dont see it like that at all. I love a ton of work from all 3 dudes but I cant not see it as Kanye coming out on top pretty regularly.

    2010; MBDTF
    2011; TC
    2012; GKMC
    2013; Yeezus smokes NWTS.
    2014; YG I guess lol
2015; im too white to vote TPAB over IYRTITL.
2016; UU amazing but Pablo a mastapiece. Views a joke.
2017; ML good but DAMN excellent.
2018; Scorp overhated. Ye trash. BP good. KSG classic.
    2019; JIK overhated
    2020; Dark Lane Demo Tape
2021; CLB overhated but Donda an opus
2022; HL & HN underhated. Mid Steppers excellent.
    2023; FATD underhated.
2024; Vultures a sunken place classic unfortunately.

    Both of them do lol

Jay’s real time as being in the game ended with his first retirement. So when he was on Swagga Like Us with Ye Wayne and TI in 08, it was those 3 time and he was just the OG in the room

By the time 2013-16 rolls around Ye reaches that same point. Almost exactly a decade after Hov’s 3 year break that marked the end of his run

Maybe if Ye didn’t take that break then the “big 3” conversation wouldn’t have happened around FHD, IYRT, and TPAB. But we’ll never know. He passed the torch and became a kardashian and the music declined heavily. You can say he kept releasing but Ye and JIK was garbage

Very very scary like s*** you see in the movies. Grimrick and them quakeing in fear and dripping sweat this very moment. Hearing reports of him calling upon the names of every divinity known to men as an act of desperation.

More like 5 or 6 but it varies

It’s been drake Cole and Kendrick for almost 10 years now. Late 2014 and early 2015 is when the big 3 became official with FHD, TPAB and IYRT within a few months. Hasn’t changed since then

maybe one day ill listen to a j.cole album

    There’s two big 3s of the 80s

The first is indisputable and has been cited many times as “the trinity” Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee, and Grandmaster Caz. Bleeding over from the late 70s to early 80s

Then there is a second trinity which begins with Rakim and Big Daddy Kane, the two who took influence from the original trinity to a whole new level. It’s somewhat debated if the 3rd person should be KRS or Kool G Rap. At this time, mainstream success wasn’t as important in these conversations, so as huge as LL was, he wasn’t put in this trinity because he wasn’t seen as a lyricist in the same sense as the others.

I was gonna say where the f*** is Rakim and Kane

I'm not really talking bout the Big 3 thing, I get that is just a 2010s rapper thing.
I was just talking about you calling him someone who comes back every few years, when he's been pretty active throughout his career. I think that 2013-16 break is overblown.

About quality, I disagree about your opinions on his albums and have no interest in challenging those. But if quality really was a determinant, J Cole really wouldn't be counted either, he makes some of the most boring slop possible.

Honestly it just doesn’t really work like this though

Once you’re around for a decade you stop competing with new artists. Everyone has their generation. Jay z was still around but no one was comparing him to Ye Wayne and TI it was a new generation under him. Same thing here

If Ye kept his output consistent in both timing and quality he could’ve bypassed this. But once he took a break he became retirement Jay Z.

There are no projects by Kendrick Drake or Cole in the 10s that are as bad as JIK and ye.
