The problem with Kendrick taking that narrative is that it was always going to be made out to be a racial thing, even if it wasn't his original intent. He also made that easier by questioning Drake's blackness multiple times across several songs. You also have Rick Ross who jumped to call him a white boy the moment he fell out with him.

Drake doesn’t have to speak on black issues in his music if he doesn’t want to but he def benefits from standing next to street niggas and blending it into his aesthetics when we seen his come up
The fact that he attacks Kendrick for being a fake black power rapper when he himself only referenced our struggles in his diss song towards Meek “Charged Up” and hopped on a pop song with racist ass Camilla Cabello after the beef is going to make some people look at him funny lol
None of this means he isn't black, which is the point being made. Cole talking like an American and being raised American gives him a pass with black Americans. That's all there is to it. If you're gonna question Drake's blackness then question Cole's blackness too because I thought blackness was determined by one's actual racial make-up, not where or how they were raised?
Does a white man who was raised around black people automatically become black? And does a black person who was raised around white people automatically become white? That's why this whole argument was dumb from the jump.
I get it was an angle to use in the beef but again, folks will call it out more and more as time passes.

He doesn't have to do anything to prove his blackness. The reason y'all say this rubbish is because he wasn't raised American. Him and Cole both have white mothers and both identity as black but somehow one has more claim to blackness than the other.
The issue is African Americans feeling like they own blackness as an identity globally. Y'all see yourselves as the only legitimate black people, that's why y'all think Canadians can't be black and Jewish people can't be black so when you have someone who has both of those identities, you automatically register that there's no way they can be black, regardless of their actual racial makeup.
