Doesn't make sense for Drake to drop tonight.

He should at least wait and see if there's another diss on the Metro and Future album and see what the reaction is.

He's probably waiting until the first week numbers to show up before he takes it off.

either that or IB said "nah. We need to eat off that track".

Alright, so here are my thoughts and theories. It's kinda long so ignore it if you don't wanna engage and please, be reasonable and don't troll. I'd like to read some of y'alls thoughts about things you might or might not agree with.

Again, these are just MY THOUGHTS/THEORIES.

I don't think Kendrick chose this moment in time to jump out and take direct shots at Drake just for the sake of it. I think everything leading up from the cultural reception/commercial performance of MMATBS to how every song he's been on since then (with the exception of Like That, of course) had zero impact whatsoever, all led him to choosing to go at Drake because he knows that's really the only other card he has left to play. I think he knows how thirsty people still are to see them go at it and he knows that's a surefire way to drum up some much-needed momentum heading into his next album, which I think will drop this summer (everything is a rollout, after all).

I think Kendrick's plan was was to drop the verse on Like That and have Drake jump out immediately with a response (he probably figured that'd be what Drake would do since that's how Drake reacted to Meek and Push) and then he'd hit him with what he had in the tuck, grab a quick W and have all that momentum leading up to the summer.

I don't think Kendrick saw Like That being this big commercially and I don't think he even needed it to be big commercially. I think he just needed all the noise and chaos it'd cause, much like his Control verse did, because he knew all of it would paint him in a good light and have his name thrown into discussions again.

I think Drake has a response ready, but after the Push situation, I think he's learned to let logic lead and not emotions when heading into potential battles with rappers. I think he believes Kendrick doesn't really want to battle but simply wants all the noise and chatter around his name, similar to what he did with his Control verse and so I don't think he feels any sort of pressure to jump out the window first. I think he's ready to do so only if Kendrick goes at him again, preferably with a diss track, so he's sure he is serious about things. I also think part of the reason behind his silence is because he's trying to figure out how deep this s*** goes and he's trying to see just how many people have turned against him and what the industry agenda is against him.

I think Drake will release an album this year where he addresses EVERYTHING and more.

No big steppers wasn’t this big commercial success but idk how you hear it and think that’s what he was aiming for, he knew it wouldn’t be a smash hit. Also it was his last album on TDE and you’d think he’d be saving his big splash for his new label.. and here we are

Interesting but genuine thoughts is I think you are mostly wrong.

You’re right in that I think this is part of a rollout, and Kendrick won’t bring in his next album until the Drake beef is finished, however Kendrick is not naive enough to not know how dangerous and definitive a beef with Drake could be, I reckon he is in it for the long haul.

Kendrick hasn’t shown us he cares that much about sales, he is still headlining festivals and breaking records with his tours, I honestly doubt he feels he needs a gimmick to sell the next rollout. He is someone perfectly capable of making commercial moves and accessible music if he wants.

I reckon Kendrick knew Like That would be big, Trav knew hence why he wanted it previewed and that’s without him knowing Kendrick would be on it.

Overall to your theory I agree Kendrick will wieve this into a rollout at some point, but something has been brewing for a while (drake allegedly dming baby keems girl, drakes very consistent and pretty dark shots at kendrick, kendrick also taking shots on Beyoncé’s remix)

I think Kendrick has been plotting for a while and was waiting for a first person shooter scenario to come around. Whether drake waits, makes it personal, does behind the scenes antics, or simply doesn’t respond I don’t see Kendrick doing what he did without all that taken into consideration.

You're saying "this is Drake we're talking about" like he hasn't dropped more diss tracks and gone back and forth on wax with more rappers than Kendrick and Cole combined lmao.

I have my doubts about him dropping anything tonight but Joe isn't coming on his podcast to say what he said if he hadn't heard something from a source he trusted.

this is not nwts drake or iyrtitl drake we are talking about that was my point

and budden doesn't know s***. you really think if there was an actual diss track anyone would know about it except boi1da and a couple of people in drake's circle? none of them would tell anything to budden
