The celebrity. It’s not only Drake. It gets to athletes too.

Tim Duncan never allowed the lights to consume him.

    Iverson did.

It’s all how you handle life away from the lights. Kendrick and Cole balance it well. But apart of the balance is not being as popular and accessible.

Drake took the other route. He is at the parties, has the friends and it can be draining. Especially for someone like Drake who is also very sensitive and passionate about his persona things.

Definitely agree bruh you can get caught up in the life and that s*** can consume you forreal. I don’t really like the age conversation of when someone should stop doing something but I do believe as someone who has reached his 30s that things do get old after awhile and sometimes less may not necessarily be more for people but at the very least it can be that peace you need. Don’t think anyone can argue that a lot of his recent music comes off as angrier or bitter and it just sucks to hear because he’s accomplished everything imaginable that you can in the music industry really

I feel like Kendrick is going to use this angle in his diss. It’s not gonna be a Pusha T type response, revealing some scathing personal info. It’s more than likely going to be a dissection of his character and how he could be perceived as a culture vulture. How he uses guys like Future, Ross and 21 Savage, even Sexy Redd more recently to help create this persona. And I like Drake as an artist, he makes good music but it’s kinda true, he’s a bit of a Parody of the genre at times.

Drake does not make the same efforts to move the real-life culture that Kendrick does, but he thrives off creating this generic superficial image of it while claiming to be a part of it. His earlier work seemed more genuine but he was known as the sensitive rapper, he was perceived as soft, but he’s tried his hardest to shed that image and now his subject matter leans more towards mob ties and getting p****, but it doesn’t get much deeper than that and it doesn’t necessarily have to, but it’s not really genuine, It’s not what he actually comes from. It’s very superficial but that’s why he sells so well, as well as structuring his songs in a way that’s digestible to a large audience, he knows how to make a hit.

I always thought buried alive on take care was really interesting song because it always seemed like Kendrick was uncomfortable around him. Kendrick might do something very left field but that could backfire if it doesn’t resonate with the majority.

You're right on the money. Kendrick's diss, if he makes one, won't be a personal attack. It'll target Drake's artistic persona. Here's how:

Trend Chaser: Drake's habit of jumping on the hottest sounds is ripe for criticism. Kendrick could portray him as a follower, not a leader.

Image vs. Authenticity: Kendrick tackles real things, Drake sells swagger. He might call out Drake's tough-guy act as a calculated ploy, contrasting it with his own earlier "soft" image.

Mass Appeal vs. Meaning The tricky part for Kendrick is making this critique hit hard. Too highbrow, and he risks losing the crowd. The right mix of sharp lyrics and a few killer lines could be devastating.

Think Kendrick can pull this off without getting too artsy?
Will this diss hurt Drake or will it be perceived as 'mid'?

Controversial take but the way Peter Griffin from Family Guy feels about The Godfather is how I feel about NWTS lol

Take Care & IYRTITL more interesting albums to me

I need to see that, nwts is too sappy, and didn't age well, the one two punch drake has is what you picked and hnmv and hl for this decade

well said, i agree. i used to reallllllyy like drake. but post nothing was the same, i feel like his character changed and became kind of fake

His ability to be fake the way he has done is part of the reason why he’s been at the top so long.

That's an interesting take, but I disagree. Sure, Drake's ability to adapt helps him stay relevant, but saying his success is all about being "fake" is too simple. The guy's a hitmaker – he knows how to write songs that stick. He understands how to balance the edgy with the accessible, and that sells. Plus, he's clearly smart about branding and business. Being calculated might be part of it, but there's more to his success than just playing a part.

Yeah I like some songs on NWTS but there's a good chunk of it that I just don't listen to anymore. I also feel like Jodeci Freestyle should've made the album
