this week watched his film Final Flesh for which he sent 4 scripts to different fetish p*** agencies who'll film anything for you for a check lol, just making them perform absurd surreal sketches. ends up pretty in line with Inland Empire lol. super creative concept tbh

Chatman also created the Snoop reality show Doggy Fizzle Televizzle for MTV and made some weird music w his band/ art collective PFFR on which Snoop featured

Just rewatched the South Park movie and it’s surprising how well crafted it is. Legit one of the most fun musical movies ever and it works amazing as just a fun blockbuster.

Matt and Trey also perfectly executed that balance with Book of Mormon becoming one of the most successful and awarded musical shows ever. Just really talented guys at what they do.

Mixing that with Kendrick and Dave’s talents/visions AND Vernon Chatman who’s a longtime South Park writer, writer for Louis C.K’s shows, writes with Chris Rock, wrote for the Jackass movies, is behind some insane out there comedy of his own. This could be amazing

Agreed about bigger longer and uncut except I don’t think it’s surprising. That movie has been a classic since the jump and those guys ability to make incredible satire while also formatting it in the style of a Hollywood movie is well established (team America too)

the film began shooting some time in summer so its probably wrapped by now. drops in 9 months

typing this also just made something occur to me...

maybe they'll tie in the superbowl to promo the film in some way. maye not during the halftime show but it could also get a trailer and somehow just use the whole kendrick moment to funnel into the film promo. summer blockbusters from the big studios usually have a superbowl trailer. this is a paramount release. could be something here
