and now we use humor and emojis to pretend that’s not what you were saying without actually explaining what you were saying lol
what else does “artists of the past didn’t have the internet” in response to “j Cole uses his music to speak on issues like artists of the past” mean lmao
You got it
It has nothing to do with awareness man
I assure you millions of people that follow both of them didn’t think Chauvin was in the wrong.
Rap fan base is majority white, never forget that
I assure you if someone is a fan of kendricks discog esp some s*** like alright and they still think chauvin was in the right, a tweet wont change much. The percentages on that are probably negligible at best, there isnt exactly much crossover between back the blue guys and kendrick lamar fans bro

Ah man you’re tripping. There were a lot of blue lives matter Kendrick fans prior to 2020 I assure ya.

how warped does your worldview have to be to think that a sizeable amount of people who are fans of TPAB and GKMC are back the blue right wingers
Anyway the incredibly important performance artist William Pope.L died today and everyone in here should look into his work as we talk about performativity and activism and art and public statement etc
Ultimately I’m grateful to be on a forum where people care enough abt these issues to talk abt em in the first place
Doesn’t seem like anyone is coming at this from a bad place

have you interacted with these people? Because I remember that time and I remember looking at those spaces kendrick wasnt exactly hailed
explain it for us
It’s a form of activism that doesn’t require one to explicitly state they are for a cause with their voice or platform. By simply participating, I am silently advocating for what I believe in.
There are also many parts of the world where people are persecuted for being loud about their activism. As a result, many of these movements have to happen in silence where no one can notice it’s going on until there is no choice. Essentially tearing down the power structure from within.
It’s actually a pretty interesting concept and this article does a better job explaining it than I do

@op wonder what your thoughts are today on this essay

Man you just throwing s*** now
My “worldview” is warped because I disagree with you abt how many blue lives matter fans Kendrick has? I’ve met a lot of them. Maybe it’s not the case anymore but around 2016 it def was. Agree to disagree
Man you gotta at least shake those f***ers out of the deck if it doesn’t. I’m not going to sit there and take cash and likes from a bunch of Chauvin apologists, imma put it in their face that it’s f*** that pig 4L and they’ll either think about that or unfollow and I’m aight with either one. Silence goes in favor of the oppressor - always. That’s fact. Tweets are f***in stupid but so is celebrity in the first place. If you’re gonna live that life, use it to the max man.
So this is where we’re at? Tweets being the end all be all?
like is it not possible that kendrick just felt a bit weird taking pics in the heat of the protest and people were just caught up in the crowd when he was unrecognizeable? S*** was pure chaos for a lil bit
do u think he purposely just went there all masked up expecting pictures for the PR? He just went to a protest cuz noname said he wasnt tweeting? What, did he hire the people who wanted pics too? why was he deadass alone in all black? Do u think in a sea of people u would recognize this as kendrick lamar? your scenario begs a whole lot of questions
hes p clearly said he was involved whats with these cynical assumptions
I feel like your scenario begs a whole lot of questions. A lot of hypotheticals and assumptions have to be made to explain why the first pictures we got of J Cole and Kendrick at a George Floyd protest was within 10 days after her tweet
You're not going to convince me and I'm not going to convince you. But I agree with what Noname said and both of them could've handled the way they reacted to her better imo

ok lemme not say worldview I jumped the gun my fault let me reword this
if an album like TPAB ur a fan of and ur still a back the blue chauvin fan right winger why on earth would a tweet do anything
especially if they genuinely feel the music
Actually, now that i think about it I do know what your referring to. Its those guys that twist the blacker the berry to think that kendrick is talking about the black community killing itself and that the point of TPAB is to say its black on black violence that causes everything. Niche crowd but they existed.
But those people literally had the ALRIGHT and For Free video thrown in their face and they ignored it. its purposeful ignorance, and either way him being supporting of those protests just like 10 days later and using bars on his next album def did the job

Pictures of Cole at the protests were posted like a day after her tweet lol

my explanations perfectly make sense and are backed up by what they have said about the situation, and realistically what would happen here
your is pure speculation cause you really want to be right
theres a million possible reasons why there wasnt pictures of them before. You are assuming one possibility, and its the most cynical one.

Yeah assuming her tweet is what made him go to a protest would mean he saw her tweet the same day which I doubt lol

"He wore a mask, maybe nobody recognized him. But then they did after the tweet"
"Maybe he didn't want to be photographed in the heat of the protest. But then he did after the tweet"
Perfect sense, sure buddy

not what i said but maybe u were dropped on ur head as a baby idk the message right after still rings true

Occam's Razor. The explanation with the least amount of assumptions is most likely the correct one.
