Bobby_96Kendrick's in my personal top 10 but DAMN to me is a textbook definition of a "forced classic."
There's nothing that DAMN does better than GKMC and TPAB. Kendrick's rapping, lyricism, storytelling, and concept songs were executed much better in those albums. And GKMC's radio songs aged better than DAMN's which is why Money Trees blew up on TikTok while Humble didn't.
That being said, there's definitely some cap being said here. Someone said TPAB couldn't be panned because of its content.
Niggas forgot that Nas tried to put out his own TPAB back in 08 called Untitled and it was panned by critics big time. His album with Damian Marley which was conscious was panned too. Also, damn near every J Cole album is panned compared to Kendrick's.
So, why didn't it work for Nas and Cole like it did for Kendrick?

Idk what point @op is trying to make when we have artist like Frank & D'angelo who have taken extensive gaps between releases & still got the acclaim they deserved for beautiful pieces of art

Basically, there's 3 possibilities for Kendrick's 4th album:
1. It will be a complete miss like Encore
2. It will be polarizing and semi-panned but grow on people over time like 808's and Heartbreak
3. It will be a classic or high quality album like Stankonia
Not many solo rappers have 4-Peated on high quality albums. Kanye's probably the only one tbh.
